Modulation
The following are the menu selections to provide
phase modulation of the output signal using a mod
-
ulating signal from both the internal FM generator
and an external source.
Press MODULATION . At the resulting main modu
-
lation menu display, press FM. The FM Status
menu (below) is displayed.
This menu lets you perform the following:
q
Turn the selected FM mode On or Off
q
Edit the FM Deviation and Rate
q
Select the FM Waveform
q
Select the modulating signal source
q
Access the FM Mode menu
Internal FM Source
Press Internal / External to select the internal FM
generator as the modulating signal source.
Press On/Off to turn the FM on and off. The Inter
-
nal FM status display will reflect your selection as
On or Off; the FM modulation status area will re
-
flect your selection as Internal On or Off.
Press Edit Deviation to open the FM Deviation pa
-
rameter, then edit the current value using the cur
-
sor control keys, rotary data knob, or enter a new
value using the keypad and the GHz/Sec/dBm termi
-
nator key. The FM Deviation range is 0.0025 to 5 ra
-
dians in Narrow FM mode and 0.25 to 500 radians
in Wide FM mode. To close the open FM Deviation
parameter, press Edit Deviation or make another
menu selection.
