Removal
1. Park machine on a level surface, lower cutting units,
stop engine, engage parking brake, and remove key
from the ignition switch.
2. Open and remove engine hood from the machine.
Slide seat all the way forward.
3. Disconnect air hose from the air cleaner and radiator.
Remove air cleaner from the engine.
4. Disconnect both battery cables at the battery (see
Battery Service in Chapter 5 − Electrical system).
5. Remove muffler from the exhaust manifold and muf-
fler bracket (see Muffler Removal).
6. Drain radiator from the drain cock valve into a suit-
able container (see Radiator Removal). Disconnect
coolant hoses from the water pump and engine block.
7. Remove reservoir and bracket from the top fan
shroud. Remove top fan shroud from the radiator (see
Radiator Removal).
