Transmission removal from the machine is not neces-
sary to service the transmission d rive belt. The trans-
mission drive belt can be replaced by removing the
battery pack from the frame, removing the transmission
cover and then removing the drive belt.
Drive Belt Removal (Fig. 34)
1. Parkmachineon level surface. Turnkeyswitch to the
OFF position and remove key from the switch. Discon-
nect the battery pack (see Battery Pack Connection in
the General Information section of this chapter).
2. Remove battery pack from machine (see Battery
Pack in the Service and Repairs section of Chapter 4 --
Electrical System).
3. Use tips of needle nose pliers to spread ends of drive
shaft wire (item 7) in telesc oping coupler (item 8). With
wire ends spread, slide coupler from transmission shaft.
IMPORTANT: During disassembly, make sure that
tension is released from transmission belt before
removing transmission cover.
4. Remove tension on transmission belt by rotating the
engage/disengage shaft clockwise (see Transmission
Belt Tensioner in the General Information section of this
chapter).
5. Remove seven (7) washer head screws that secure
transmission cover to transmission. Carefully remove
cover from transmission. Remove and discard gasket
(item 3).
6. Make sure that wave washers (item 4) remain in
bearing bores of transmission cover.
7. Note transmission belt routing for assembly pur-
poses (Fig. 35).
