TAPE DRIVE STATUS
The Tape Drive Status section includes the following information:
INVENTORY
The Inventory section provides information from the autoloader’s cartridge
inventory. The autoloader maintains a cartridge inventory to keep track of
where cartridges are located. An inventory is automatically performed each
time the autoloader is powered on, each time a cartridge is inserted or
removed from the autoloader, and each time a cartridge is loaded or unloaded
from the tape drive. In performing an inventory, the autoloader checks for
cartridges in the cells and scans each cartridge’s bar code label.
The Inventory section includes the following information:
Field Indicates...
Index the element index of the tape drive (82). (Element indexes
identify locations within the autoloader that can accept a
cartridge.)
Status whether the tape drive is active (tape motion is occurring)
or inactive (idle)
Field Description
Index Indicates the element index of the cartridge cell, tape drive,
or robot (cartridge loader). The cell element indexes are 1
through 7, the tape drive element index is 82, and the
robot element index is 86. (Element indexes identify
locations within the autoloader that can accept a cartridge.)
What Indicates the type of element (cell, drive, or robot).
