TAPE ALERT FLAGS
REQUIREMENTS
The WORM feature requires the following:
LTO-3 generation of tape drive—the WORM feature is not available on
earlier generations of LTO tape drives (LTO-2 or LTO-1)
WORM-capable drive firmware release 54xx or higher
Special WORM tape cartridges
You can use LTOTool to determine the firmware level currently in the tape
drive. Refer to the readme file provided with the program for installation
instructions. Refer to the program’s online help for instructions on
determining the tape drive firmware level.
If your tape drive has an earlier version of firmware, you can download the
updated firmware by visiting the download page on the Exabyte web site at
www.exabyte.com/downloads.
Note: Refer to “FTP—Autoloader Firmware Upgrade and Diagnostics” on
page 100 for instructions on upgrading the tape drive firmware.
TAPEALERT FLAGS
Ta bl e B -2 shows the new TapeAlert flags associated with the WORM cartridge.

the drive determines that the data on tape is suspect
from a WORM point of view.

the drive rejects a Write operation because the rules
for allowing WORM writes have not been met.
