Chapter 5: Troubleshooting
To configure the motherboard jumpers and set up the BIOS
5–29
To configure the motherboard jumpers and set up the BIOS
If the BIOS settings become corrupted, the Infiniium oscilloscope PC motherboard will not
recognize the hard drive and the unit will not boot. To determine the correct BIOS setup
procedure for your configuration, determine the following information:
BIOS release number
RAM size shown on screen at power-up
The type of floppy drive installed in your oscilloscope
The 1.44 MB floppy drive has the release button above the disk opening. The 120 MB floppy has
the release button below the disk opening. From this information, determine the correct
WINBIOS setup procedure in order to enter the correct BIOS settings.
When the motherboard is replaced, set the motherboard jumpers to support the CPU clock speed
and CPU power. Refer to one of the following topics that applies to your Infiniium later in this
chapter for the correct jumper configuration procedure.

The second configuration Infiniiums were equipped with AMI series 757 motherboards, AMD
K6/200 (200 MHz) processors, and a 1.44 Mbyte floppy drive. The K6 processor is a dual-
voltage processor with 2.9 V core and 3.3 V I/O. This dual-voltage processor requires that a
2.9 V voltage regulator module (VRM) is installed in the motherboard’s VRM socket and that
the J14 jumpers are set accordingly.
This motherboard lists the message "BIOS Release 757XXXXXX" and 16XXXKB or 65XXXKB of
RAM when the BIOS setup is entered. See "To configure the AMI Series 757 WINBIOS
Parameters with 1.44 Mbyte floppy drive" for the appropriate BIOS setup procedure. See
"Configuring the AMI Series 757 Motherboard with 200 MHz CPU" for the motherboard jumper
configuration to match the K6-200 processor.
1. If the PC motherboard was replaced with a newer type, please use the newer BIOS setup procedure that
applies to that PC motherboard configuration.
