Removal (Fig. 6)
1. Park machine on a level surface, engage parking
brake, lower attachment, and stop the engine.
CAUTION

5. Remove carriage bolts from bearing flanges and
front fork. Lower front wheel from fork.
WARNING
Before jacking up the machine, review and follow
Jacking Instructions in Chapter 1 – Safety.
Support wheel and shaft when removing car-
flanges to prevent personal injury.
6. Slide bearing flanges and bearings off the front axle.
2. Jack up front fork enough to allow the bearing
flanges and front axle to drop free of the fork.
7. Separate bearing flanges from the bearings.
3. Loosen set screws on both locking collars; Unlock
8. Remove lug nuts from the drive studs. Separate
collar by turning against the direction of shaft rotation.

4. Remove hex nuts and lock washers from carriage
bolts securing the bearing flanges to the front fork.
