5. Press the Talk/Listen Address side menu button, and set the GPIB
address using the general purpose knob.
The oscilloscope is set up for bidirectional communication with your controlĆ
ler or computer. If you wish to isolate the oscilloscope from the bus: press the
Off Bus side menu button.
If you wish to enter a special mode of operation to communicate directly with
nonĆ488.2 hard copy devices press the Hardcopy side menu button. The
oscilloscope sends hard copy information only when you press the HARDĆ
COPY button.

Connecting to an RSĆ232 Device
The RSĆ232 interface provides a pointĆtoĆpoint connection between two items
of equipment such as a computer or terminal and the oscilloscope. This
section tells how to connect and set up the oscilloscope for communication
over the RSĆ232 interface.
RSĆ232 Interface Ċ defines two types of devices: Data Terminal EquipĆ
ment (DTE) and Data Communications Equipment (DCE).
