UPC/EAN Security Level
Parameter Default Value: Level 0
Use this parameter to determine the security level appropriate for UPC/EAN barcode quality.
There is an inverse relationship between security and scanner aggressiveness, so be sure to choose
only that level of security necessary for any given application.
There are four decode security levels. Higher security levels are selected for decreasing levels of
barcode quality. As security levels increase, the scanner’s aggressiveness decreases.
Select an option by scanning one of the barcodes shown below. If you wish to change your
selection, scan Cancel.
UPC/EAN Security
Level 0 The default setting. Allows the scanner to operate in its
most aggressive state, while providing sufficient security
in decoding “in-spec” UPC/EAN barcodes.
UPC/EAN Security Lev
Level 1
Mis-decode 1,2,7,8
As barcode quality levels diminish, certain characters
become prone to mis-decodes before others (i.e. 1, 2, 7,
8). Select this level upon mis-decodes of poorly printed
labels that are limited to 1, 2, 7 and 8.
UPC/EAN Security Lev
Level 2
Mis-decodes not 1,2,7,8
Select this security level upon experiencing mis-decodes
of poorly printed barcodes and the mis-decodes are not
limited to characters 1,2,7 and 8.
