9.5 Changing Transfer Mode Limit Parameters
The Intel® Ultra ATA Companion allows you to modify the Transfer Mode Limit for each IDE
and ATAPI device installed in your system. The wrench icon denotes the parameter than can be
modified. Simply double-click on the parameter to change the value. The following illustration
shows a parameter that can be modified:
Note: The Intel Ultra ATA Storage Driver automatically configures all the IDE and ATAPI
devices in your system for the maximum transfer mode possible even if the BIOS settings are
incorrect. Changing the Transfer Mode for each device does not need to be done unless you
have a specific need to decrease the Transfer Mode for specific devices to something less than
the maximum. Leaving the Transfer Mode default settings will provide you with the optimal
transfer rates available for your system.
