Deck Spindle
Greasefittingscanbe foundon eachdeckspindle.SeeFigure26.
Lubricatewith251HEPgreaseoran equivalentNo.2 multi-purpose
lithiumgrease.Usinga greasegun,applytwostrokes(minimum)or
sufficientgreaseto the spindleshaft.
ADJUSTMENTS

Shuttheengineoff, removethe ignitionkeyandengagethe parking
brakebeforemakingadjustments.Protectyour handsbyusingheavy
gloveswhenhandlingthe blades.
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stirepressurebeforeperforminganydeck
levelingadjustments.Referto Tireson page24forinformationregard-
ingtirepressure.
Leveling the Deck (Front To Rear)
Thefrontofthecuttingdeckis supportedbya stabilizerbarthatcan
beadjustedto levelthedeckfromfrontto rear.Thefrontof the deck
shouldbebetween1/4-inchand3/8-inchlowerthanthe rearof the
deck.Adjustifnecessaryas follows:
1. Parkthetractorparkedona firm,level surfaceandplacethedeck
lift leverinthemiddleposition.
2. Rotatethebladenearestthe dischargechutecoverso thatit is
parallelwiththe tractor.
3. Measurethe distancefromthe frontof the bladetip to theground
andthe rearof the bladetiptothe ground.Thefirstmeasurement
takenshouldbebetween1/4"and 3/8"lessthan thesecond
measurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor properadjustment
and proceed,if necessary.
1. To raisethefrontof the deck,tighten(threadinward)thelocknut
againstthe fronthangerbracket.See Figure27.
2. To lowerthefrontof the deck,loosen(threadoutward)the lock
nut,awayfromthefronthangerbracket.

Leveling the Deck (Side to Side)
Ifthe cuttingdeckappearsto be mowingunevenly,a sideto side
adjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessaryas follows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm, levelsurface,placethedecklift
leverin the middlepositionand rotatebothbladessothattheyare
perpendicularwiththe tractor.
2. Measurethedistancefromtheoutsideof the left bladetip to the
groundandthe distancefromthe outsideoftherightbladetip to
the ground.Bothmeasurementstakenshouldbeequal.Ifthey're
not, proceedto the nextstep.
