REVERSE CAUTION MODE
The REVERSECAUTIONMODEpositionof thekeyswitchmodule
allowsthe tractorto beoperatedinreversewiththe blades(PTO)
engaged.
NOTE: Mowinginreverseisnotrecommended.
Useextremecautionwhileoperatingthetractorin the REVERSE
CAUTIONMODE.Alwayslookdownand behindbeforeandwhile
backing.Donotoperatethe tractorwhenchildrenor othersare
around.Stopthetractorimmediatelyif someoneentersthearea.

NOTE:TheoperatorMUSTbe seatedinthe tractorseat.
DRIVING ON SLOPES
Referto the SLOPEGUIDEon page8 to helpdetermineslopeswhere
you mayoperatethetractorsafely.
Donotmowon inclineswitha slopeinexcessof 15degrees(a rise
approximately2-1/2feetevery10feet).Thetractorcouldoverturnanc
causeseriousinjury.
• Mowupanddown slopes,NEVERacross.
• Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectionon slopes.
• Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,or otherhiddenobjects.
Uneventerraincouldoverturnthemachine.Tallgrasscan hide
obstacles.
1. Starttheengineas previouslyinstructedon the previouspage. •
2. Turnthekeyfromthe NORMALMOWING(Green)positionto the
REVERSECAUTIONMODE(Yellow)positionofthekeyswitch

at thetop,rightcornerofthekeyswitchmodule.The redindicator
lightatthetop,leftcornerof thekeyswitchmodulewillbe ON
whileactivated.SeeFigure8.
4. Onceactivated(indicatorlightON),the tractorcan bedrivenin
reversewiththe cuttingblades(PTO)engaged.
5. Alwayslookdownand behindbeforeandwhilebackingtomake
surenochildrenarearound.Afterresumingforwardmotion,
returnthekeyto the NORMALMOWINGposition.
The REVERSECAUTIONMODEwill remainactivateduntil:
a. Thekeyis placedin eithertheNORMALMOWINGposition
orSTOPpositionor
b. Theoperatorleavestheseat.
Avoidturnswhendrivingon a slope.If a turnmustbe made,turn
downtheslope.Turningupa slopegreatlyincreasesthe chance
of a rollover.
Avoidstoppingwhen drivingup a slope.If it is necessarytostop
whiledrivingup a slope,start upsmoothlyandcarefullyto reduce
the possibilityofflippingthe tractoroverbackward.
ENGAGING THE PARKING BRAKE/SETTING
THE CRUISE CONTROL
NOTE:Theparkingbreakandcruisecontrolarecontrolledbythe
samelever.Ifusingthebrakewhenengagingthe parkingbrake/
cruisecontrollever,theparkingbrakewillengage.Ifusingthedrive
pedalwhenengagingthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrollever,the cruise
controlwill engage.
Parking Brake
NOTE:Theparkingbrakemustbesetif theoperatorleavestheseat
withthe enginerunningor theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff.
To setthe parkingbrake:
1. Pressthe brakepedalcompletelydownwith yourleftfootand
holditinthat position.
2. Pushtheparkingbrake/cruisecontrolleverdownwardandholdit
inthatposition.
3. Removeyourfootfromthe brakepedal.
4. Releasepressurefromthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrollever.
Aftercompletingstep3,the brakepedalshouldremaininthe down
position.If itdoesn't,theparkingbrakeisnot engaged.Repeatsteps1
through4 toengagethe parkingbrake.
Todisengagetheparkingbrake,lightlypressthe brakepedal.
(BladeEngageknob),setparkingbrake,stopengineandremove
to preventunintendedstarting.
