Cruise Control
Neverengagethe cruisecontrolleverwhiletravelingin reverse.
Tosetthecruisecontrol:
1. Slowlypressthe upperportionof thedrivepedalwithyour right
footuntilthedesiredspeedisachieved.
2. Lightlypressthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrolleverdownwardand
holdit in thatposition.
3. Removeyour footfromthe drive pedal.
4. Releasepressurefromthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrollever.
Aftercompletingstep3, the drivepedalshouldremaininthedown
positionandthetractorwillmaintainthe sameforwardspeed.If it
doesn't,thecruisecontrolis not engaged.Repeatsteps 1through4 to
engagethecruisecontrol.
Todisengagethe cruisecontrol,lightlypressthe drivepedalor the
brakepedal.
NOTE:Cruisecontrolcannotbesetat the tractor'sfastestground
speed.If the operatorshouldattemptto do so,thetractorwillautomati-
callydecelerateto thefastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Tochangethedirectionof travelfromforwardto reversewhencruise
controlis engaged,pressthe brakepedalto disengagethe cruise
controlandbringthetractortoa completestop.Thenslowlypressthe
reversepedalwiththe ballof yourfoottotravelinreverse.
USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER
To raisethecuttingdeck,movethe decklift leverto the left,thenplace
it in the notchbestsuitedfor yourapplication.
OPERATING THE HEADLIGHTS
The lampsareONwheneverthe ignitionkeyisrotatedout of theSTOP
position.ThelampsturnOFFwhentheignitionkeyis movedto the
STOPposition.
ENGAGING THE PTO
Engagingthe PTOtransferspowertothecuttingdeckor other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Toengagethe PTO:
1. Movethe Throttle/Chokecontrolleverto theFAST(rabbit)
position.
2. Pullthe PTO/BladeEngageknobbackinto theengaged(ON)
position.SeeFigure9.
NOTE: AlwaysoperatethetractorwiththeThrottle/Chokecontrollever
in the FAST(rabbit)positionforthe mostefficientuseof thecutting
deckor other(separatelyavailable)attachments.

To helpavoidbladecontactora thrownobjectinjury,keepbystand-
ers,helpers,childrenand petsat least75feetfromthe machinewhile
it is in operation.Stopmachineif anyoneentersthe area.
The followinginformationwill behelpfulwhenusingthecuttingdeck
withyourtractor.
Planyourmowingpatterntoavoiddischargeof materialstoward
roads,sidewalks,bystandersandthe like.Also,avoiddischarging
materialagainstawall orobstructionwhichmaycausedischarged
materialto ricochetbacktowardthe operator.
Donot mowat highgroundspeed,especiallyif a mulchkitor
grasscollectoris installed.
Donot cutthe grasstooshort. Shortgrassis pronetoweed
growthandyellowsquicklyindry weather.
Alwaysoperatethetractorwiththe throttleleverinthe FAST
(rabbit)positionwhilemowing.
Forbestresultsit is recommendedthatthe first twolaps becut
withthe dischargethrowntowardsthecenter.Afterthe firsttwo
laps, reversethedirectionto throwthedischargeto theoutside
for thebalanceof cutting.Thiswill givea betterappearanceto the
lawn.
Do NOTattemptto mowheavybrushand weedsorextremelytall
grass.Yourtractorisdesignedto mowlawns,NOTclearbrush.
Keepthe bladessharpandreplacethe bladeswhenworn.
