4. Usinga wrench,raiseor lowerthe leftside of thedeck byturning
the adjustmentgear.SeeFigure28.
Thedeckis properlyleveledwhenbothbladetipmeasurements
takenearlierareequal. Retightenthehexbolt onthe leftdeckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentis achieved.
Parking Brake Adjustment
If thetractordoesnotcometo acompletestopwhenthe brakepedal
is completelydepressed,or if thetractor'srearwheelscanrollwith
the parkingbrakeapplied(andthe transmissionreliefvalveopen),the
brakeisin needof adjustment.Seea Searsorother qualifiedservice
dealerto havethebrakeproperlyadjusted.
Adjusting the Seat
Referto theAssemblysectionof thismanualforseatadjustment
instructions.
Beforeoperatingthetractor,makesurethe seatis engagedinthe
seat-stop.Engagethe parkingbrake.Standbehindthe machineand
pullbackonseatuntilit clicksinto place.
Steering Adjustment
Ifthe tractorturnstighterinonedirectionthantheother,or if the ball
jointsarebeingreplaceddue to damageorwear,thesteeringdrag
linksmayneedto beadjusted.
Adjustthedraglinksso thatequallengthsof eacharethreadedinto
the balljoint onthe left sideandthe balljointon the rightside:
1. Removethe hexnutbelowthe balljoint. SeeFigure29.

2. Threadtheballjoint inwardto shortenthedraglink.Threadthe
balljoint outwardtolengthenthe draglink.
3. Replacethe hexnutafterproperadjustmentis achieved.
NOTE:Threadingthe balljointstoofar ontothedraglinkswillcause
the fronttiresto "toe-in"too far.Propertoe-inis between1/16"and
5/16".
4. Fronttire toe-incanbe measuredasfollows:
a. Placethesteeringwheel inpositionfor straightaheadtravel.
b. Infrontof the axle,measurethe distancehorizontallyfrom
the insideofthe left rimtotheinsideof therightrim.Notethe
distance.
c. Behindthe axle,measurethedistancehorizontallyfromthe
insideoftheleft rimto the insideofthe rightrim.Notethe
distance.
d. The measurementtakeninfrontoftheaxle shouldbe
between1/16"and5/16"lessthanthemeasurementtaken
behindthe axle.
