TRACTOR
Always observe safety rules when
performing any maintenance.
BRAKE OPERATION
Iftractor requires more than six (6) feet
stoppingdistance at high speed in
highestgear, then brake must be ad-
justed. (See =TOADJUST BRAKE" inthe
Service and Adjustmentssection of this
manual).
TIRES
Maintain proper air pressure in all tires
(See =PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS"
sectionof this manual).
Keep tires free of gasoline, oil, or insect
controlchemicals which can harm
rubber.
Avoid stumps,stones, deep ruts,sharp
objectsand other hazards that may
cause tire damage.
NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent
fiat tires due to slow leaks, tire sealant
may be purchasedfrom your local parts
dealer.Tire sealant also preventstire dry
rotand corrosion.
OPERATOR PRESENCE SYSTEM
Be sure operator presence and intedock
systemsare working propedy. If your
tractordoes not functionas descdbed,
repair the problem immediately.
The engine shouldnot start unless the
brake pedal is fully depressed and
attachment clutchcontrol is in the
disengaged position.
When the engine is running, any
attempt bythe operator to leave the
seat withoutfirst settingthe parking
brake shouldshut offthe engine.
When the engine is running and the
attachment dutch is engaged, any
attempt by the operator to leave the
seat should shut off the engine.
The attachment clutchshould never
operate unless the operator is in the
seat.
BLADE CARE
For bestresults mower blades must be
kept sharp. Replace bent or damaged
blades.
BLADE REMOVAL
1. Raise mower to highest positionto
allow access to blades.
2. Remove blade bolt.
3. Install new or resharpened blade with
trailingedge up towards deck as
shown.
IMPORTANT: To ensure properassembly,
canter hole in blademust alignwith star
on mandrel assembly.
4. Reassemble blade bolt tighten belt
securely(45-55 Ft. Lbs.torque).
IMPORTANT: Blade boltisgrade 8 heat
treated.

TO SHARPEN BLADE
NOTE: We do not recommendsharpen-
ing blade - but ifyou do, be sure the
blade is balanced.
Care should be taken to keep the blade
balanced. An unbalanced blade will
cause excessive vibrationand eventual
damage to mower end engine.
The blade can be sharpened with a file
or on a gdndingwheel. Do not attempt
to sharpen while on the mower.
To check blade balance, you will need
a 5/8" diameter steel belt, pin, or a cone
balancar. (When usinga cone bal-
ancer, follow the instructionssupplied
with balancar.)
NOTE: Do not use a nail for balancing
blade. The lobes of the center hole may
appear to be centered, butare not.
Slide blade on to an unthraaded
portionofthe steel bolt or pin and hold
the boltor pinparallel withthe ground.
If blade isbalanced, it shouldremain in
a horizontalposition. If either end of
the blade moves downward, sharpen
the heavy end untilthe blade is
balanced.

BATTERY Center Hole
Your tractor has a battery charging system
which is sufficientfor normal use. How-
ever, periodic charging of the battery with
an automotivecharger will extend its life.
