TTL. With studio strobes, you don’t
have the advantage of through-the-
lens metering. When using the
Nikon version of TTL (i-TTL), the
camera automatically adjusts the
exposure according to the desired
flash output and adjusts distance to
the subject as calculated from the
lens distance setting. This automatic
adjustment is a huge advantage of
using Speedlights —you can just
basically set up your Speedlights for
i-TTL set the groups and channels,
and start shooting. Your Nikon cam-
era does the rest. With studio
flashes, you have to set up the out-
put for each flash manually.
