Deck Wash System TM ....
Yourtractor'sdeckmaybeequippedwitha waterporton
its surfaceaspart ofitsdeckwashsystem.
UsetheDeckWashSystemTM to rinsegrassclippings
fromthedeck'sundersideandpreventthe buildupofcor-
rosivechemicals.CompletethefollowingstepsAFTER
EACHMOWING:
1. Drivethetractortoa level,dear spoton yourlawn,
nearenoughtoa watersillcock(spigot)foryour
gardenhoseto reach.
iMPORTANT:Makecertainthetractor'sdischargechute
isdirectedAWAYfromyourhouse,garage,parkedcars,
etc.
2. Disengagethe PTO(BladeEngage),movethe shift
leverintotheneutralposition,setthe parkingbrake,
andstoptheengine.
3. Threadthe hosecoupler(packagedwithyourtractor's
Operator'sManual)ontotheendof yourgardenhose.
4. Attachthe hosecouplertothe waterportonyour
deckssurface.SeeFigure21.
5. Turnthe wateron.
6. Whilesittingin theoperator'spositiononthetractor,
re-starttheengineandplacethethrottleleverin the
FAST(rabbit)position.
7. Disengagethe parkingbrake.
8. Movethetractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intotheON
position.
9. Remainin theoperator's positionwiththecutting
deckengagedfora minimumof twominutes,allowing
theundersideof thecuttingdecktothoroughlyrinse.
10.Movethe tractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intothe OFF
position.
11.Turnthe ignitionkeytotheSTOPpositiontoturn the
tractor'sengineoff andengagethe parkingbrake.
12.Turnthe wateroff anddetachthehosecouplerfrom
thewaterport onyourdeckssurface.
13.Repeatsteps4-11on theoppositesideof the cutting
deck.

Cutting Deck Removal
Toremovethecuttingdeck, proceedasfollows:
1. Placethe PTO(BladeEngage)knob(or lever)in the
disengaged(OFF)positionandengagetheparking
brake.
2. Lowerthe deckbymovingthedeck liftleverinto the
bottomnotchonthe rightfender.
3. Removethe hairpinclipthatsecuresthe PTOcableto
therearof thecuttingdeck. SeeFigure22.Remove
thePTOcableandaccompanyingspringfromthe
cuttingdeck.
4. Removethedeckbelt fromaroundthetractor's
enginepulley(orelectricPTOclutch,ifso equipped).

parkedcars. etc.
NOTE:On models with
a 46-inch deck, it may
be necessary to remove
the belt keepersfrom
around the engine pul-
ley,in order to remove
the PTO belt.
