Front To Rear
Thefrontofthe cuttingdeckissupportedbya stabilizer
barthatcanadjustedtolevelthe deckfromfrontto rear.
Thefrontofthe deckshouldbebetween1/4-inchand
3/8-inchlowerthantherearof thedeck.Adjustifneces-
saryasfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm,levelsurface,place
thedeckliftleverinthetop notch(highestposition)
androtatethebladenearestthe dischargechuteso
thatitisparaIMwiththe tractor.
2. Measurethe distancefromthefrontofthe bladetip to
thegroundandthe rearofthebladetipto theground.
Thefirstmeasurementtakenshouldbebetween
1/4"and 3/8"lessthanthesecondmeasurement.
Determinetheapproximatedistancenecessaryfor
properadjustmentandproceed,ifnecessary,to the
nextstep.
3. Fromthefrontof thetractor,loosenthe hexlocknut
oneachendof thedeck hangerrod,andturnaway
fromtheinnerhexnuts.SeeFigure14.
4. Tightentheinnerhexnutsfrontagainstthe front
hangerbracketto raisethe frontofthedeck;loosen
thehexnutsto lowerthefrontofthe deck.
NOTE:Modelswitha 42-inchdeckhaveonlyONEjam
nut,washer,and locknut.

Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stirepressurebeforeperform-

5. Retightenthetwo locknutsagainsttheinnerhexnuts
whenproperadjustmentisachieved.
Side to Side
If the cuttingdeckappearsto bemowingunevenly,a side
tosideadjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessary
asfollows:
1. Withthe tractorparkedona firm,levelsurface,place
thedecklift leverinthe topnotch(highestposition)
androtatebothbladessothattheyareperpendicular
withthetractor.
2. Measurethe distancefromtheoutsideof theleftblade
tipto thegroundandthedistancefromtheoutsided
therightbladetip totheground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal.Ifthey'renot,proceedto the
nextstep.
3. Loosen,butdo NOTremove,thehexcapscrewon
theleftdeckhangerbracket.SeeFigure15.
4. Balancethe deckbyusingawrenchtoturn the
adjustmentgear (foundimmediatelybehindthe hex
capscrewjust loosened)clockwise/uporcounter-
clockwise/down.Thedeckis properlybalancedwhen
bothbladetipmeasurementstakenearlierareequal.
5. Retightenthehex capscrewontheleft deckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentis achieved.
