Engine
Referto the EngineOperator/Owner Manualfor
engine maintenance instructions.
Checkengineoil levelbeforeeachuseas instructed
inthe EngineOperator/OwnerManualpackedwithyour
unit.Follow the instructionscarefully.
Changing Engine Oil
NOTE:Dependingontheenginemodelfoundon your
tractor,itmaybenecessaryto removethe tractor'sside
panelin orderto replacetheoilfilter(if so equipped).
1. Popopenthe protectivecapontheendofthe oil
drainvalvetoexposethedrain port.See Figure20.
2. Removetheoil fillcap/dipstickfromtheoil filltube.
3. Pushthe oildrainhose(packedwiththismanual)
ontotheoil drainport. Routethe oppositeendof the
hoseintoanappropriateoil collectioncontainerwith
a capacitygreatenoughtocollect theusedoil.
4. Aftertheoil hasfinisheddraining,pushtheoil drain
valvebackin,rotateit clockwisetolockthevalve
closedand re-captheendof theoil drainvalveto
keepdebrisfromenteringthedrainport.
5. Servicetheoilfilter (ifsoequipped)as instructedin
theseparateEngineOperator/OwnerManualpacked
withyourunit.
Performtheabovestepsinthe oppositeorderafteroil has
finisheddraining.
6. Refilltheenginewith newmotoroil as instructedinthe
EngineOperator/OwnerManualpackedwithyour unit.
IMPORTANT:Referto the EngineOperator/Owner
Manualpackedwithyourunitfor informationregardingthe
quantityandproperweightof motoroil.
Air Cleaner
Servicethepre-cleaner,ifsoequipped,andcartridge/air
cleanerelementas instructedin theEngineOperator/
OwnerManualpackedwithyourunit.
Spark Plug(s)
Thesparkplug(s)shouldbecleanedand thegap reset
oncea season.Sparkplugreplacementis recommended
atthe startofeachmowingseason.Referto theEngine
Operator/OwnerManualfor correctplugtypeandgap
specifications.
Lubrication

Engine
Lubricatetheenginewithmotoroil asinstructedinthe
EngineOwnerManualpackedwith yourunit.
Pivot Points & Linkage
Lubricateall the pivotpointsonthedrivesystem,parking
brakeand lift linkageatleastoncea seasonwithlightoil.
Rear Wheels
Therearwheelsshouldbe removedfromthe axlesonce
a season.Lubricatetheaxlesandthe rimswellwithan
all-purposegreasebeforere-installingthem.
Front Axles
Eachendofthe tractor'sfrontpivotbarmaybeequipped
witha greasefitting.Lubricatewitha greasegunafter
every25 hoursof tractoroperation.
Cleaning the Engine And Deck
Anyfueloroil spilledonthemachineshouldbe wiped
off promptly.Do NOTallowdebristoaccumulatearound
thecoolingfinsofthe engineor onanyotherpart ofthe
machine.
IMPORTANT:Theuseofa pressurewashertocleanyour
tractorisNOTrecommended.It maycausedamageto
electricalcomponents,spindles,pulleys,bearingsor the
engine.
