Toreleasethe parkingbrake,
depressthe brakepedalslightly.

returntoitsoriginalposition.
NOTE:Theparkingbrakemustbesetif the operator
leavestheseatwiththe enginerunningor theenginewill
automaticallyshutoff.
IMPORTANT:Alwayssetthe parkingbrakewhen leaving
thetractorunattended.
Cruise Control Button
Thecruisecontrolbuttonis
locatedonthetractordash
paneltothe left oftheignition
switch.Pushthecruisecontrol
buttonwhiletravelingforwardat a
desiredspeed.Whileholdingthe
buttonin, releasepressurefrom
thedrivepedal.Thiswill engage
thecruisecontrolandallowthe
tractorto remainat thatspeed
withoutapplyingpressuretothe
drivepedal.Depressthebrake
pedalor the drivepedaltodeactivatecruisecontrol.

themanualfordetailedinstructionsregardingthecruise
controlfeature.
NOTE:CruisecontrolcanNOTbeengagedat the
tractor'sfastestgroundspeed.Iftheoperatorshould
attempttodoso,the tractorwillautomaticallydecelerate
tothe fastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Shift Lever
Theshiftleverislocatedonthe
leftsideof thefenderand has
threepositions,FORWARD,
NEUTRALand REVERSE.The
brakepedalmustbedepressed
andthetractormustnot bein
motionwhenthemovingshift
lever.
IMPORTANT:Neverforcethe
shiftlever.Doingsomayresultin
seriousdamageto thetractor's
transmission.

Safety Interlock Switches
Thistractorisequippedwitha safetyinterlocksystem
forthe protectionof theoperator.Iftheinterlocksystem
shouldevermalfunction,do notoperatethe tractor.
Contactan authorizedMTDservicedealer.
• Thesafetyinterlocksystempreventstheengine
fromcrankingorstartingunlesstheparkingbrake
isengaged,andthe PTO(BladeEngage)knob (or
lever)is in thedisengaged(OFF)position.
• Theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff ifthe operator
leavestheseatbeforeengagingtheparkingbrake.
Models with Manual PTO (Blade Engage)
• Theenginewillautomaticallyshutoff ifthe operator
leavesthetractor'sseatwiththe PTO(BladeEngage)
leverin theengaged(ON) position,regardlessof
whethertheparkingbrakeisengaged.
• WiththeignitionkeyintheNORMALMOWING
position,theenginewill automaticallyshutoff ifthe
PTO(BladeEngage)leveris movedintotheengaged
(ON)positionwiththeshift leverinReverse.
Models with Electric PTO (Blade Engage)
• TheelectricPTO(BladeEngage)clutchwillautomati-
callyshutoff if theoperatorleavesthetractor'sseat
withthePTO(BladeEngage)knob intheengaged
(ON)position,regardlessofwhethertheparking
brakeis engaged.
• WiththeignitionkeyintheNORMALMOWING
position,theelectricPTO(BladeEngage)clutchwill
automaticallyshutoffif thePTO(BladeEngage)knob
ismovedintothe engaged(ON)positionwiththeshift
leverin Reverse.
