Toproperlysharpenthecuttingblades,removeequalamounts
of metalfrombothendsof the bladesalongthecuttingedges,
parallelto thetrailingedge,at a 250.300angle.Alwaysgrindeach
cuttingbladeedgeequallyto maintainproperbladebalance.See
Figure18.
Neverjump starta damagedor frozenbattery.Becertainthe vehicles
do nottouchandignitionsareoff. Donot allowcableclampstotouch.
Ifthe cuttingedgeof thebladehas previouslybeensharpened,orif
any metalseparationispresent,replacethebladeswithnewones.
A poorlybalancedbladewillcauseexcessivevibration,maycause
damageto the tractorand/or resultinpersonalinjury.

Useatorquewrenchto tightenthe bladespindlehexflange nutto
between70ft-lbs and90ft-lbs.
BATTERY
Batteryposts,terminals,andrelatedaccessoriescontainleadand
leadcompounds,chemicalsknowntotheStateof Californiatocause
cancerandreproductiveharm.Washhandsafterhandling.
If removingthe battery,disconnecttheNEGATIVE(Black)wirefrom
itsterminalfirst,followedby thePOSITIVE(Red)wire.Whenreinstall-
ingthe battery,alwaysconnectthePOSITIVE(Red)wireits terminal
first,followedby theNEGATIVE(Black)wire.
1. Connectthe positive(+) cableto positive(+) postof yourtractor's
dischargedbattery.
2. Connectthe otherendof thecableto thepositive(+) postof the
jumperbattery.
3. Connectthe negative(-) cabletothe negative(-) postof the
jumperbattery.
4. Makethefinal connectionon the engineblockof thetractor,away
fromthe battery.Attachtoan unpaintedpart to assurea good
connection.
Ifthejumperbatteryis installedona vehicle(i.e.car,truck),do NOT
start thevehicle'senginewhenjump startingyourtractor.
5. Startthe tractor(as instructedin theOperationsectionof this
manual).
6. Setthe tractor'sparkingbrakebeforeremovingthejumpercables.
Removecablesinreverseorderof connection.
Charging
Batteriesgiveoff an explosivegas whilecharging.ChargethebatteryI
in a wellventilatedareaandkeepawayfroman openflameorpilot I
lightas on a waterheater,spaceheater,furnace,clothesdryeror I
othergas appliances. ..J
Whenchargingyourtractor'sbattery,useonlya chargerdesignedfor
12Vlead-acidbatteries.Readyourbatterycharger'sOwner'sManual
priorto chargingyourtractor'sbattery.Alwaysfollowitsinstructions
andheeditswarnings.
Ifyourtractorhasnotbeenput intouse foranextendedperiodof time,
chargethe batteryasfollows:
1. Setyourbatterychargerto delivera maxof 10amperes.
2. Ifyour batterychargerisautomatic,chargethe batteryuntilthe
chargerindicatesthatchargingis complete.If thechargerisnot
automatic,chargefor nofewerthaneighthours.
