Cruise Control
Neverengagethecruisecontrolleverwhiletravelingin reverse.
Tosetthe cruisecontrol:
1. Slowlypressthe upperportionof thedrivepedalwithyour right
footuntilthe desiredspeedisachieved.
2. Lightlypressthe parkingbrake/cruisecontrolleverdownwardand
holdit in thatposition.
3. Removeyour footfromthedrivepedal.
4. Releasepressurefromtheparkingbrake/cruisecontrollever.
Aftercompletingstep3,thedrivepedalshouldremaininthedown
positionandthetractorwill maintainthe sameforwardspeed.If it
doesn't,thecruisecontrolis notengaged.Repeatsteps1through4 to
engagethecruisecontrol.
Todisengagethe cruisecontrol,lightlypressthedrivepedalor the
brakepedal.
NOTE:Cruisecontrolcannotbesetat the tractor'sfastestground
speed.If the operatorshouldattemptto do so,thetractorwill automati-
callydecelerateto thefastestoptimalmowinggroundspeed.
Tochangethedirectionof travelfromforwardtoreversewhencruise
controlis engaged,pressthe brakepedalto disengagethe cruise
controlandbringthe tractortoa completestop.Thenslowlypressthe
reversepedalwiththe ballof yourfoottotravelinreverse.
USING THE DECK LIFT LEVER
To raisethe cuttingdeck,movethe decklift leverto the left,then place
it in the notchbestsuitedfor yourapplication.
OPERATING THE HEADLIGHTS
The lampsareONwhenevertheignitionkeyis rotatedout oftheSTOP
position.ThelampsturnOFFwhenthe ignitionkeyis movedto the
STOPposition.
ENGAGING THE PTO
EngagingthePTOtransferspowerto thecuttingdeckor other
(separatelyavailable)attachments.Toengagethe PTO:
1. Movethe Throttle/Chokecontrolleverto the FAST(rabbit)
position.
2. Pullthe PTO/BladeEngageknobbackinto theengaged(ON)
position.SeeFigure9.
NOTE: Alwaysoperatethe tractorwiththeThrottle/Chokecontrollever
in the FAST(rabbit)positionforthemostefficientuseof the cutting
deckor other(separatelyavailable)attachments.

MOWING
To helpavoidbladecontactora thrownobjectinjury,keepbystand-
ers,helpers,childrenand petsat least75feetfromthe machinewhile
it is in operation.Stopmachineif anyoneentersthearea.
The followinginformationwillbehelpfulwhenusingthe cuttingdeck
withyourtractor.
Planyourmowingpatternto avoiddischargeof materialstoward
roads,sidewalks,bystandersandthe like.Also,avoiddischarging
materialagainstawall orobstructionwhichmaycausedischarged
materialto ricochetbacktowardthe operator.
• Donot mowat highgroundspeed,especiallyif a mulchkitor
grasscollectoris installed.
• Donot cutthe grasstooshort. Shortgrassis pronetoweed
growthandyellowsquicklyindry weather.
• Alwaysoperatethetractorwiththe throttleleverinthe FAST
(rabbit)positionwhilemowing.
• Forbestresultsit is recommendedthatthe first twolaps becut
withthe dischargethrowntowardsthe center.Afterthefirsttwo
laps, reversethedirectionto throwthedischargeto theoutside
for thebalanceof cutting.Thiswill givea betterappearanceto the
lawn.
Do NOTattemptto mowheavybrushand weedsorextremelytall
grass.Yourtractoris designedtomowlawns,NOTclearbrush.
• Keepthe bladessharpandreplacethebladeswhenworn.
