Transmission Drive Belt
NOTE:Severalcomponentsmustbe removed,includingtransmission
steeringlinkagewhichwillhavetobe readjusted,inordertochange
thetractor'stransmissiondrivebelt.ContactyourSearsParts&
ServiceRepairCenterto haveyourtransmissiondrivebeltreplaced.
REINSTALLING THE CUTTING DECK
Therearetwomethodsforreinstallingthemowerdeckon thetractor.
OnemethodinvolvesrotatingthePTObeltidlerbrackettorelieve
enoughbelttensiontoallowthebelttobeplacedin eitherthePTO
pulleyor thefixedidlerpulley.Becausethat methodis difficult,we
recommendusingthesecondmethodofrollingthebeltontothePTO
pulley.
Installthecuttingdeckasfollows:
1. Fromtherightsideofthetractor,slidethedeckunderthetractor
andalignthereardeckhangerbracketswith thedecklift arms.
2. Slidethedeckforwardandplacethedeckfronthangerrodinto
theslotsofthedeckfronthangerbracket.Thenslidethedeck
rearwardsothatthefronthangerrodisatthefrontoftheslots.
3. Usingthedecklift lever,lowerthedeck liftarms.Fromeitherside
ofthetractor,pullthesupportpinin thedeckrearhangerbracket
outward,alignthedeckliftarmholewiththedecksupportpinand
releasethepinsothatitgoesthroughthedeck liftarm.Repeaton
theothersideofthetractortosecurethedeck.
4. Afterfirstmakingsurethedeckbeltisproperlyengagedin allof
thedeckpulleys,routethedeckbeltforwardthroughthecenter
ofthefrontdeckhangerrodandtowardthePTOpulleyonthe
bottomoftheengine.
5. Usingthedecklift handle,raisethedecktothepositionthatgives
youthemosthorizontalrunofthebeltbetweenthedeckpulleys
andthe PTOpulleyonthebottomoftheengine.
6. Sittinginfrontofthetractor,facingrearward,makecertainthe
beltisnottwisted;thenreachbeneaththetractortograspthebelt
and pullittowardthePTOpulley.
NOTE:Referencestoleftand rightarefromthefrontofthetractorin
thefollowinginstructions.

Pullthe rightsideofthebeltforwardand placethenarrowV side
ofthebeltintothePTOpulley.
Whileholdingthebeltandpulleytogether,rotatethepulleytothe
Idt. Continueholdingand rotatingthepulleyandbeltuntilthebelt
isfully rolledintothe PTOpulley.SeeFigure25.
