Therecommendedoperatingtirepressureis:
Approximately10psiforthereartires
Approximately14psiforthefronttires
IMPORTANT:Uneventirepressurecouldcausethecuttingdeckto
mowunevenly.
CLEANING STEERING GEARS
Oncea year,or ifa tightspotisexperiencedwhenturningthesteering
wheel,removethesteeringgearcoveroneachendofthepivotbar
andcleanthetwosteeringgears.
1. Frombeneaththecoverbaseplateon eachendofthepivotbar,
removethethreehexscrewssecuringthesteeringgearcover.
Removethecoversandcleanthegears.It isnotnecessaryto
lubricatethegears.RefertoFigure12.
2. Insertthetabof theLHsteeringgearcoverintothesquarehole
inthe LHbaseplate,positionthecover,andsecurewiththethree
hexscrews.Donotovertighten.Repeattoinstallthecoveron the
RHside.
CLEANING THE TRACTOR AND DECK
Anyfueloroil spilledonthemachineshouldbewipedoff promptly.Do
NOTallowdebristoaccumulatearoundthedeckpulleysor anyother
partofthemachine.
Periodicallyremovethebeltcoversandremoveanyaccumulated
grassclippingsfromaroundthespindlepulleysandthedeckbelt.
IMPORTANT:Theuseofa pressurewashertocleanyourtractoris
NOTrecommended,itmaycausedamagetoelectricalcomponents,
spindles,pulleys,bearingsortheengine.
4. Pullbackthelockcollarofthenozzleadapterandpushthe
adapterontothedeckwashnozzleattheleftendofthemower
deck.Releasethelockcollartolocktheadapteron thenozzle.

5. Turnthewateron.
6. Whilesittingin theoperator'spositionon thetractor,re-startthe
engineand placethethrottleleverintheFAST(rabbit)position.
7. Movethetractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intotheONposition.
Remainintheoperator'spositionwiththecuttingdeckengaged
fora minimumoftwominutes,allowingtheundersideofthe
cuttingdecktothoroughlyrinse.
8. Movethetractor'sPTO(BladeEngage)intotheOFFposition.
TurntheignitionkeytotheSTOPpositiontoturnthetractor's
engineoff.
9. Pullbackthelockcollarofthenozzleadaptertodisconnectthe
adapterfromthenozzle.
Using Deck Wash System TM
UsetheDeckWashSystemTM to rinsegrassclippingsfromthedeck's
undersideandpreventthebuildupofcorrosivechemicals.Yourtrac-
tor'sdeckisequippedwitha waternozzleonthe leftendofthedeck.
CompletethefollowingstepsAFTEREACHMOWING:
1. Drivethetractortoa level,clearspotonyour lawn,nearenough
toa watersillcock(spigot)foryourgardenhoseto reach.
IMPORTANT:Makecertainthetractor'sdischargechuteisdirected
AWAYfromyourhouse,garage,parkedcars,etc.
2. DisengagethePTO(BladeEngage),settheparkingbrake,and
stoptheengine.
3. Threadthenozzleadapter(packagedwithyourtractor'sOpera-
tot's Manual)ontotheendofyourgardenhose.
BATTERY
Thebatteryissealedand ismaintenance-free.Acidlevelscannotbe
checked.
Alwayskeepthebatterycablesandterminalscleanandfreeof
corrosivebuild-up.
Aftercleaningthebatteryandterminals,applya lightcoatof
petroleumjellyorgreasetobothterminals.
Alwayskeepthe rubberbootpositionedoverthepositiveterminal
to preventshorting.
IMPORTANT:If removingthebatteryforanyreason,disconnect
the NEGATIVE(Black)wirefromitsterminalfirst, followedbythe
POSITIVE(Red)wire.Whenre-installingthebattery,alwaysconnect
the POSITIVE(Red)wireitsterminalfirst,followedbytheNEGATIVE
(Black)wire.Becertainthatthewiresareconnectedtothecorrect
terminals;reversingthemcouldchangethepolarityandresultin
damagetoyourengine'salternatingsystem.
