5. Toeventhedeckturntheadjustmentgear,locatedimmediately
behindthehexcapscrew,clockwise(rearward)to lowertheleft
sideofthedeck.Turnthegearcounter-clockwise(towardfront)to
raisetheleft sideofthedeck.SeeFigure15.
6. Thedeckis properlyleveledwhenbothbladetipmeasurements,
asdescribedearlier,areequal.
7. Retightenthehexcapscrewin theleftdeckadjustmentbracket
whenproperadjustmentisachieved.
Front To Rear Deck Leveling
Thefrontofthecuttingdeckissupportedbyanadjustablefrontdeck
hangerrod.This rodcanbeadjustedtosetthefronttorearpitchof
thedeck.Thefrontofthedeckshouldbeapproximately1/4-inchlower
thantherearofthedeck.
Adjustifnecessaryasfollows:
NOTE:Thedeckshouldfirstbeleveledsideto side.Checkthesideto
sidelevelofthedeckandadjustifnecessary.
1. Withthetractorparkedon afirm,levelsurface,movethedeckto
themidheightposition(thirdor fourthnotch)usingthedeck lift
lever.Carefullyrotatethe RHblade(nearestthedischargechute)
sothatitis parallelwiththetractorframe.
2. Measurethedistancefromthefrontof thebladetiptotheground
andtherearofthebladetiptotheground.Thefrontmeasure-
menttakenshouldbeapproximately1/4"lessthanthe rear
measurement.Determinewhetherthefrontofthedeckhasto be
raisedor lowered.
3. Workingatthefrontofthetractor,loosenthetwohexlocknutsat
thefrontofthedeckhangerrod.Threadthelocknutsawayfrom
thehexnutsbehindthem.Referto Figure16.

4. Usea openendwrenchtoturntheinnerhexnutstoadjustthe
frontofthedeck.Turnthehexnutsclockwisetoraisethefront
ofthedeck,or counterclockwiseto lowerthefrontofthedeck.
Adjustthe hexnutsevenlysothatthedeckhangerrod isat the
frontofbothslotsinthe hangerbracketon thefrontofthedeck.

5. Refightenthetwohexlocknutswhenproperlyadjusted.
Deck Gauge Wheel
NOTE:Thedeckgaugewheelsareananti-scalpfeatureofthedeck
andare notdesignedtosupporttheweightofthecuttingdeck.
Thedeckgaugewheelsshouldneithercontacttheground,nor behigh
off theground,whenthedeckismovedtothedesiredheightsetting.If
youchangeyourcuttingheightduringthemowingseason,thegauge
wheelsshouldbecheckedandadjustedasnecessary.
Adjustthegaugewheelsasfollows:
1. Placethetractorona fiatsurfaceandmovethedecktothe
desiredmowingheightusingthedecklift lever.
2. Checkgaugewheelsdistancefromtheflat surfacebelow.If the
gaugewheelscontacttheground,theymustbe raised.Ifthe
gaugewheelsare higherthan1/2"abovetheground,theyshould
be lowered.
3. Removethehexflangelocknutandshoulderboltsecuringoneof
thefrontgaugewheelstothefrontindexbracket.Repositionthe
gaugewheelto alignwiththeoneoffiveindexholesthatplaces
thewheel1/4"to 1/2"abovetheground.Securethegaugewheel
totheindexbracketwiththeshoulderboltandflangelocknut.
Notetheindexholeusedandsecuretheothergauge
wheelin thesameposition.SeeFigure17.
