achievethe900orientationofthetimingarrowsonthe pulleys.
3. Re-installtheidlerbracketbackstopandpositionsothatthereisa
1/8"gapbetweenthe backstopandidlerbracket.Tightenthehex
screwandflangelocknutto secureintheadjustedposition.
BELTS
Besuretoshuttheengineoff,removeignitionkey,disconnectthe
sparkplugwire(s)topreventunintendedstartingbeforeremovingthe
belt(s).
PTO Belt
Allbeltsonyourtractorare subjecttowearandshouldbe replacedif
anysignsofweararepresent.

Toreplacethe PTObelt,proceedasfollows:
1. Removethedeckfrombeneaththetractor(referto CuttingDeck
Removal).
2. ManeuverthePTObeltdownwardandofftheidlerpulleyonthe
springloadedidlerbracket.
NOTE:It maybe necessarytoloosenthehexcapscrewandflange
locknutsecuringthepulleytotheidlerbrackettofitthe beltbetween
thepulleyand bracket.Slidethebeltbetweenthebottomoftheidler
pulleyandtopofthetimingbeltidlerpulleybelow.SeeFigure22.

theidlerpulleyandidlerbracket.Re-tightenthehexscrewand
flangelock nutifloosenedearlier.Referto Figure22.
6. Routethebeltaroundthefixedidlerpulleyasshownin Figure22
and re-installthedeckasdescribedin "ReinstallingtheCutting
Deck"laterinthis section.
Timing Belt
Toreplacethetimingbelt,proceedasfollows:
1. Removethedeckfrombeneaththetractor(refertoCuttingDeck
Removal).
2. RemovethePTObeltdrivepulleyofthe righthandspindle
assemblyasdescribedin "PTOBelt."
3. Removethehexscrew,flatwasher,lockwasher,shoulderspacer,
andflangelocknutthatmakeup theidlerbracketbackstop.Refer
to Figure21above.
NOTE:Itmaybenecessaryto cleantheundersideofthemowingdeck
toaccessthehexscrew.
