Port Plug Update:
Subject:
On Machete and Brahma pumps utilizing the
new design Servo Solenoid Valve assembly, An incor-
rect port plug was installed in the port next to the solenoid
Valve. This incorrect port plug does not allow oil trapped
on the back side of the servo piston to escape to tank,
resulting in incomplete shifting of the servo piston and
thus incomplete stroke of the pump, causing a notice-
able decrease in blade speed and performance. Pumps
that need updating can be externally identified by the wire
exit direction on the solenoid coil, a rectangular wire
connection point on the solenoid coil, and a raised button
on the port plug as shown in figure 1.
Once the plug is removed from the manifold, the
incorrect plug can be identified by the secondary sealing
surface and extended length as shown in figure 2.
Service Instructions:
Secure the tractor to facilitate safe repair. Thor-
oughly clean the top of the pump and around the port plug
and solenoid valve to prevent contamination from be
introduced to the hydraulic system. Remove the port
plug as shown in figure 1 and replace with new port plug
(P/N 02983170) as shown in figure 2. Run and test
mower for operation and hydraulic leaks.
