Dipper Boom Reinforcement Plates:
Subject:
Loads and the resulting stress incurred during heavy to abusive operation of the Machete Boom
may allow for fracture of the outer (Dipper) Boom at the welds which attach the base end mount
of the Head Tilt Cylinder.
Service Required: All outer (Dipper) Booms should be reinforced with the correct Plates welded to
both sides of the Boom.
1. Follow any and all safety instructions provided, Operators Manual and Instruction Sheets.
2. Position the Boom so Boom arm is fully extended and mower head is resting on the ground.
3. Secure the Tractor, turn off the engine, engage Parking Brake and remove Tractor Key.
4. Use wire brush to remove the paint from the area to be welded under the head tilt cylinder mount.
5. Clamp correct plates to each side of the dipper arm under head tilt cyl. mount (See Figure 1).
6. Weld the plate completely using 7018 rod or equivalent.
7. Let cool, clean and paint. Reinstall the required decals if desired.
