SHARPENING OR REPLACING THE SHRED=
DER BLADE
1. Stopthe engineandmakecertainthatallmovingpartshave
cometo acompletestop.
2. Disconnectthesparkplugwireandgroundagainstthe engine•
3. Lowerthe hopperassemblyandblockupthe housing.
4. Removethe six hexlocknutsandflatwashersfromthe weld
studsonthe flail housing.Retainthe hardware.
5. Carefullyseparatethehopperassemblyfromtheimpeller
assemblyandremovethesupportplate•
NOTE:Whenreassemblingthesupportplate,makecertainthe
embossedtab facesinwardtowardstheimpeller.
6. Removethe twowingknobsthatsecurethe chutedeflectorand
raisethechute.
7. Inserta 1/2"or3/4"diameterpipethroughthe flailscreenintothe
impellertokeepit fromturningorremovetheflailscreenand
inserta pieceofwoodinto thechuteopening.
8. a. Removethe two internalhexscrews,lockwashers,andhex
locknutswhichsecuretheshredderbladeto theimpeller.
b.Removethehex bolt,lockwasher,andflat washerto
completelyfreeshredderblade.SeeFigure16.
NOTE:Usea3/16"hexkey(Allen)wrenchon theoutsideofthe
shredderbladeanda 1/2"box(orsocket)wrenchon the insideof the
shredderblade.HoldtheAllenwrenchstationaryandrotatethebox

(orsocket)wrenchto loosenthe nut.Usecautionwhenremovingthe
bladetoavoidcontactingthe weldstudson housing.
IMPORTANT:Whensharpeningtheblade,followtheoriginalangle
of grindasa guide.It isextremelyimportantthateachcuttingedge
receivesan equalamountofgrindingto preventanunbalancedblade.
An unbalancedbladewillcauseexcessivevibrationwhen rotatingat
highspeedsand maycausedamageto theunit.Thebladecan be
testedbybalancingit on a screwdriveror nail.Removemetalfromthe
heavysideuntilit isbalancedevenly.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
Beforeperforminganytypeof maintenance/servioe,disengageall
controlsandstoptheengine.Waituntilallmovingpartshavecometo
a completestop.Disconnectsparkplugwireandgroundit againstthe
enginetopreventunintendedstarting.Alwayswearsafetyglassesduring
operationorwhileperforminganyadjustmentsorrepairs.
