1. Removeoil filldipstick.
2. Withthechippershredderon levelground,usea funneltoempty
entirecontentsofoil bottleprovidedintothe engine.
3. Replaceoil fill dipstickandtighten.
Subsequent Uses
Onlyusehighqualitydetergentoil ratedwithAPIserviceclassification
SF,SG,or SH.Selecttheoil's SAEviscositygradeaccordingtothe
expectedoperatingtemperature.Followthe chartbelow.

Althoughmulti-viscosityoils(5W30,10W30,etc.)improvestarting
incold weather,theywill resultinincreasedoil consumptionwhen
usedabove32°R Checkyour engineoil levelmorefrequentlyto avoid
possibleenginedamagefromrunninglowon oil.
1. Checktheoil levelmakingcertainnotto rubthedipstickalongthe
insidewallsofthe oil filltube.Thiswouldresultina falsedipstick
reading.Refillto FULLmarkon dipstick,ifnecessary.Capacity
isapproximately18oz.Overfillingwill causetheengineto smoke
profuselyandwill resultin poorengineperformance.
2. Replaceoil filldipstickandtighten.
3. Keepoil levelatFULL.Runningthe enginewithtoo littleoilcan
resultinpermanentenginedamage.
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremely
flammableandthe vaporsareexplosive.Neverfuel machineindoors
or whiletheengineis hotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,
pipes,andothersourcesof ignition.

1. Removefuelcap fromthefueltank.
2. Makesurethe containerfromwhichyouwill pourthegasolineis
cleanandfreefromrustor foreignparticles.Neveruse gasoline
thatmaybestalefromlongperiodsofstoragein itscontainer.
Gasolinethathasbeensittingforanyperiodlongerthan four
weeksshouldbe consideredstale.
3. Fill fueltankwithclean,fresh, unleadedregulargasolineonly.Do
notusegasolinecontainingMETHANOL.Replacefuelcap.

UseAlcoholblendedfuels(calledgasoholor usingethanolormetha-
nol)can attractmoisturewhichleadsto separationandformationof
acidsduringstorage.Acidicgascandamagethefuelsystemof an
enginewhileinstorage.
Toavoidengineproblems,thefuelsystemshouldbe emptiedbefore
storagefor30daysorlonger.Drainthe gas tank,startthe engine
andlet it rununtilthefuellinesandcarburetorareempty.Use
freshfuelnextseason.SeeSTORAGEInstructionsforadditional
information.
Neveruseengineorcarburetorcleanerproductsinthefueltankor I
permanentdamagemayoccur.
NOTE:Checkthefuel levelperiodicallytoavoidrunningout of gaso-
linewhileoperatingthechippershredder.Ifthe unitrunsoutofgas as
itis chipping,it maybenecessarytounclogthedischargeareabefore
itcan berestarted.RefertoSERVICEANDADJUSTMENTsection.

1. Attachsparkplugwireandrubberboot to sparkplug.
2. Gastankshouldbefilled3/4 tofull beforestarting.
