SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
THROTTLE CONTROl. ADJUSTMENT
(See Fig. 44)
The throttle control has been preset at factoryandadjustment
should not be necessary. Check adjustment a_'_"described
below before loosening clamp screw. If adj_._tment is
necessary, proceed asfoltows.
o Engine speed is controlled my movement of the throttle
control lever..
o Move control "B" to 'FAST" position..
® Swivel"C" should be against side of quarter circle.
TO ADJUST-
e Loosen casing cramp screw "A"o
e Move casing and wire in direction shown until swivel is
against side of quarter circle_
• Re-tighten casing clamp screw "A"..
CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
(See Fig. 45)
Minor carburetor adjustment may be required to compensate
for differences in fuel, temperature, altitude or load.
NOTE: The air cleaner must be assembled to carburetor when
runningengine..
INITIAL ADJUSTMENT
® Gently turn the id]e mixture screw clockwise until it
closes. Turning screw intoo far may damage it.
e Next turn idle mixture screw 1-1/2 turns counterclockwise.
This initial adjustment will permitthe engine to be started
and warmed up (approximately 5 minutes) prior to final
adjustment.
FINAL ADJUSTMENT
e Start engine and place throttlecontrol in IDLE or SLOW
position.
e Hold throttle lever against idle stop, and adjust idle speed
screwto obtain 1200 to i400 RPM
• While still holding throttle lever, turn idle mixture screw
slowly clockwise (lean mixture) until engine j.q_ starts to
slow.
• Still holding lever, turn screw slowly counterclockwise
(rich mixture) until engine speed "ujg_starts to slow.
• Turn screw to midpoint between rich and lean.
• Adjust idle speed screw to obtain 900 to 1200 RPM
• Release lever.
• If the engine does not accelerate properly, re-adjust
carburetorto a slightly richer mixture.
