SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO START ENGINE WITH A WEAK
BATTERY (See Fig. 38)
CAUTION: Lead-acid batteries generate
explosive gases, Keep sparks, flame and
smoking materials away from batteries.
Always wear eye protection when around
batteries°
II your battery is too weak to start the engine, it should be
recharged. If "jumper cables" are used for emergency starting
follow this procedure..
IMPORTANT: YOUR TRACTOR IS EQU1PPED WITH A 12
VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED SYSTEM. OTHER VEHICLE
MUST ALSO BE A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUNDED
SYSTEM. DO NOT USE YOUR TRACTOR BATTERY TO
START OTHER VEHICLES
TO ATTACH JUMPER CABLES -
• Push battery boot away from POSITIVE (+) terminal.
e Connect RED (+) cable to POSITIVE (+) terminal on
battery, taking care not to short against chassis..
• Connect BLACK (-) cable to NEGATIVE (-) terminal on
battery.
TO REMOVE CABLES, REVERSE ORDER -
e BLACK (-) cabte from battery
e RED (+)cable from battery.
TO REPLACE FUSE (See Fig. 39)
• Raise hood.
e Locate fuse holder under dash,
e Remove fuse and replace with a t5 amp automotive-
type plug in fuse (see REPAIR PARTS section for more
intormation),
TO REPLACE HEADLIGHT BULB
(See Fig. 40)
• Raise hood, NOTE: Do not remove plastic headlight lens
when replacingheadlight bulb
e Turn headlight harness (holding bulb) !/4 turn counter-
clockwise and remove
• Pull bulb out (do not unscrew) Push in new bulb
e Replace headlight harness and turn 1/4 turn clockwise to
lock in place..
e Close hood..
INTERLOCKS AND RELAYS
Looseor damaged wiring may cause your tractor to run poorly,
stop running, or prevent it from starting.
• Check wiring See electrical wiring diagram in the REPAIR
PARTS section of this manual.
