SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
TO REPLACE MOWER BLADE DRIVE BELT
(See Fig+ 29)
e Remove mower deck (see TO REMOVE MOWER DECK
in this section,
e Remove mower deck belt guard
• Note position of belt retainer on idler pulley so itcan be can
be repositioned properly after belt installation Loosen idler
pulley.,
® Remove old belt and replace with anew original equipment
belt
e Reinstall belt guard,.
@ Reposition belt retainer and re-tighten idler pulley,,
• Reinstatl mower deck assembly,
• Adjust belt (see TO ADJUST TRACTOR DRIVE BELT
below)+
TO ADJUST TRACTOR DRIVE BELT

The drive belt is kept tight by a spring attached to the brake-
clutch pedal assembly When the drive beft is properly
adjusted, the brake+clutch pedal shoutd appear as shown infully
released position.,
® The brake-clutch pedal should appear as shown in Fig, 30A
when in the futly reteased position, iI not,then the foftowing
adjustment isnecessary.
e Depress the brake-clutch pedal enough tolatch the parking
brake inthe 3rd notch
e Loosen clutching idler pulley mounting screw,
e If brake+clutch pedal was too far forward, slide idler pulley
intoward engine pulley, If pedal was too far rearward, slide
idlerpultey away from engine pulley.
e Re-tighten idler pulley mounting screw., NOTE: Belt
retainer should point toward position where running board
meets main frame,
• Release brake+clutch pedal and re-check pedalfor proper
position and readjust if necessary.
e Check tractor brake adjustment (see TO ADJUST
TRACTOR BRAKE in this section),
