SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Safety inst ructions regarding the
surroundi ngs
S Never allow children to use the machine.
S Ens ure no one comes closer than 50 feet
(15 meters ) when wor king.
S Never allow anyone else to use the
machine without first ensuring that they
have understood the contents of the
operator’s manual.
Safety instructions before starting
work
S Ins pect the working area. Remove any
objects such as stones, broken glass,
nails, steel wire, string, etc. that can be
thrown or can wrap around the cutting
head or shaft.
S Keepothers at a safe distance. Children,
animals, onlookers and helpers should
stand outside of the saf ety zoneof 50
feet (15 meters). Bystanders should be
encour aged to wear saf ety glasses. Stop
the machineimmediately if anyone
should approach.
S Check the entire machine before starting
work. Replace damaged parts. Check for
fuel leakage and that all safety guards
and covers are complete and fastened
securely. Check all nuts and bolts.
S Check the cutting head
for cracks or any other
damage.
S En sure the tri mmer guard
is mounted and not
damaged.
Personal protection
S Always wear boots and
other equipment described
in the “Personalprotective
equipment” section.
S Always wear working
clothes and heavy--dut y
long pants.
S Never wear loose fitting
clothes or jewelry.
S Persons with long hair
should (for persona l safety)
put their hair up.
General safety precauti ons
IMPORTANT!
S The machine is only designe d for trimming
grass.
S The only acc essories you can operate
with this engine unit are thecutt ing at-
tachments we recommend in the “Tech-
nical data” section.
S Never use wire, r ope, string, etc.
S Never use the machine if you aretired, if
you have drunk alcohol, or if you are tak-
ing medicationthat could affect your vi-
sion, your judgment or your coordination.
S Never use the machine in ext reme weath-
er co ndi tio ns such as sever e co ld, very ho t
and/or humid climat es.
S Never use a machine that has been modi-
fied in any way from its origin al specif ica-
tion.
S Wear personal protect ive equipment. See
instr uctions in the “Per sonal prot ective
equipment” section.
S Never use a machine that is faulty. Carr y
out the chec ks , maintenance and ser vice
instr uctions described in this manual.
Some maintenance and service measure s
must be carried out by traine d and quali-
fied spe cialist s. Se e instructions in the
“Maintenance” section.
S All covers and guards must be fitted before
starti ng. Make sure the sp ark plug cap and
lead are not damaged. Oth erwise you
could get an elec tric shock.
S The machine operator must ensur e that
no people or animals com e cl oser than
50 feet (15 meters ) while workin g.
S Stay clear of spinni ng line.
S Secur e or remove loose clo thing or clot h-
ing with loose ly hanging ties, straps, tas-
sels, etc. They can be caught in movi ng
parts.
S Being fully covered also helps protect you
from debris and pieces of toxic plants
thrown by spin ning line.
S Keep handles free of oil and fuel.
S Always keep the engine on the right hand
side of you r body.
S Hold the unit fir mly wit h both hands.
S Keep trimmer head below waist level and
away from all parts of your body. Do not
raise engine above your wai st.
S Keep all parts of your body away from
muffler and spinning line. Keep engine be-
low waist level. A hot muffler ca n cause
seriou s burns.
S Keep firm footin g and balance. Do not
overr each or us e from unsta ble surfa ces
such as ladder s, trees, steep sl opes, roof-
tops, etc.
S Use only in daylig ht or good artif icial light.
S Use only for jobs explained in this manual.
