W ARNING: If the idl e speed can-
not be adjusted so that the cutting
attachmen t stops, con tact your ser-
vicing dealer . Do not use the ma-
chine unti l it has been correctly ad-
justed or repaired.

Disc onnect the spark plug beforeperform-
ing maintenance, except ca rburetor adjust-
ments.
Muffler
CAUTION! Muffler is fitted with a catalytic
conver ter designed to reduce harm ful ex-
haust gases.
The muffler is designed to reduce the noise
level and to direct the exhaust gases away
from the operator. The exhaust gases are
hot and can contain spar ks, which may
cause fire if directed against dry and com -
bustible material.
Mufflers areequipped with a specialspar k
arrestor mesh. The meshshould be
checked and, if necessary. cleaned by a
serv icing dealer . If the mesh is damaged,
it should be replaced. Ifthemeshisfre-
quently blocked, this can be a sign that the
performanceof the catalytic converter is
impaired. Contact your servicing dealer to
inspect the muf fler. A blocked mesh will
cause the machine to overheat and result
in damage to the cy linder and piston.
CAUTION! Nev er use a machine that has
a faulty or loose muffler. Ensure the muffler
bolts are tight.

Spark plug
The spark plug condition is influenced by:
S Incorr ect carbur etor adjustment.
S An incorrect fuel mixture (too muchor in-
correct type of oil).
S A dirty air filter.
Thesefactors cause deposits on the spark
plug electrodes, whichmay result in operat-
ing problems and st arting difficulties.
If the machine is low on power, difficult to
start or runs poorly at idle speed: always
check the spar k plug firs t before taking
any further act ion. If the spark plug is dirty,
clean it and check that the electrode gap is
0.024″ (0.6 mm). The spark plug should be
replacedafter about a month in operation or
earlier if neces sary.
CAUTION! Always use the recommended
spark plug type! Use of the wr ong spark
plug candamage the piston/cylinder.

W ARNING: The insideof the
muffler contain chemicals that may
be carcinogenic. Avoid contact
withtheseelements in the event of
a damaged muffler.
CAUTIO N: M u fflers fitted with cata-
lytic converters get very hot during use
and remain so for some time after stop-
ping. This also applies at idle sp eed. Con-
tact can res ult in burn s to the skin. Re-
membertheriskoffire!
W ARNING: Engine ex haust
fumes contain carbon monoxide,
which can cause carbon monoxide
poisoning. DO NOT
start or run the
machine indoors, or anywhere that
is poorly ventilated. The exhaust
fumes from the engine are hot and
may contain sparks wh ich can start
