SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Muffler
The muffler is designed to reduce the noise
level and to direct the exhaust gases away
from the operator.
CAUTION! Muffler is fitted with a catalytic
conver ter designed to reduce exhaust gas
emissions.
For mufflers, it is ver y important that you f ol-
low the instructions on checking, maintain-
ing, and servicing your machine.
See Checking, maintaining and servicing the

Cutting equipment
A trimmer head is intended for trimming
grass.

IMPORTANT!
All ser vicing and repair work on the
machine requires special training. This is
especially true of the machine’s safety
equipment. If your machine fails any of the
checks desc ribed below you must contact
your servicing dealer. When you buy any
of our products we guarantee the availabil-
ity of professional repairs and service. If
the retailer who sells your machine is not a
serv icing dealer , ask him for the address of
your nearest servicing dealer .
Stop switch
S Start the engine and make sure the engine
stops when you push and hold the stop
switch.
Cutting attachment guard
S Ens ure that the guard is undamaged and
is not cracked.
S Replace the guard if it has been exposed
to impact or is cracked.
S Always use the recommended guard for
the cutting attachment you are using. See
sect ion on “Technical data”.
W ARNING: The inside of the
muffler contain chemicals that may
be carcinogenic. Avoid contact
with these elements in the event of
a damaged muffler.
CAUTION: Mufflers fitted with cata-
lytic converters get very hot during use
and remain so for some ti me after stop-
ping. This also appl ies at idle speed . Con-
tact can resu lt in burn s to the skin. Re-
member the risk of fir e!
W ARNING: Engine exhaust
fumes contain carbon monoxide,
which can cause carbo n monoxide
poisoning. DO NOT
start or run the
machine indoors, or anywhere that
is poorly ventilat ed. The exhaust
fumes fro m the engine are hot and
may contain sp arks which can start
a fire. Never star t the machin e in-
doors or near combust ible materi al!
