DEWPOINTTEMPERATURE

WHATISTHE“DEWPOINT”?

Thedewpointisthetemperaturewheremoistureintheaircondensesintowater.Wecommonlyrefertothe

condensedwaterasdew,thereforethetemperatureatwhichthe“dew”formsiscalledthedewpoint.

THERELATIONSHIPBETWEENDEWPOINT,TEMPERATUREANDRELATIVEHUMIDITY

Whenthedewpointisneartothecurrenttemperature,wehaveveryhighhumidity.Ifthedewpointisequaltothe

currenttemp,thatisarelativehumidityof100%.Thismeansthattheairiscompletelysaturatedwithwatervapor.

Whenthedewpointremainsconstantandthetemperatureincreases,

relativehumiditywilldecrease.

Astheairtempgoesdown,thedewpointtendstofollow.Alowdewpointcangoalongwithahightemperature

onlyatextremelylowrelativehumidity.

perspireandproducesweattocooldown.Highhumidity(andthereforeahighdewpoint),willpreventthe

evaporationofsweatandreducesthebody’sabilitytocoolitself,andwe
