andadjustmentshouldnotbenecessary,

tocompensatefordifferencesinfuel,
temperature,altitudeorload.Ifthecadouretor
doesneedadjustment,proceedas follows:
Ingeneral,turningtheadjuslJngnsedlesin
(clockwise)decreasesthesupplyoffuelto
theenginegMnga leanerfueVairmixture.
Turningtheadjustingnsedlesout (counter-
clockwise)increasesthesupplyoffueltothe
enginegivinga richerfuel/airmixture.
IMPORTANT:Damagetothe needlesand
seatsincarburetormayresultiftumsdintoo
tighL
NOTE: The carburetoronthisengineislow
emission.Itis equippedwithan idlefuel
adjustingneedlewitha limitercap,which
allowssomeadjustmentwithinthelimits
allowedbythecap.Donotattempttoremove
thelimitarcap.The Iimitercapcannotbe
removedwithoutbreakingthe adjusting
needle.
1. Besureyouhavea cleanairfilterandthe
throttlecontrolcableisadjustedproperly
(seeabove).
2. Startengineandallowtowarmforfive
minutes.Makeadjustmentswithengine
runningand shifl/motlencontrolleverin
neutral(N)position.
3. Idlesneedsettin?- W'_hthrotifeoontrol
leverinslow position,engineshouldidle
at 1750RPM. Ifengineidlestooslowor
fast,turnidlespesdadjustingscrewinor
outuntilcorrectidleisattainsd.
4. Idlefuelneedlesottine- Withthrottle
controllever inslowposition,turnidlefuel
adjustmentneedlein (clockwise)until
enginebeginstodieandthenturnout
(counterclockwise)untilengineruns
rough.Turnneedletoa pointmidway
betweenthosetwopnsltions.
5. Recheckidlespeed.Readjustifnecas-
sery.
ACCELERATIONTEST-
6. Movethroltlecontrolleverfromslowto
fastposition.Ifenginehesitatesordies,
turnidlefueladjuslingneedleout
(counterclockwise)1/8turn. Repeattest
andcontinuetoadjust,ifnecessary,until
engineacceleratessmoothly.
Highspeed stopisfactory adjusted.Do
notadjust- damagemay result.
IMPORTANT: Nevertamperwiththe
enginegovernor,whichis factory set for
properenginespeed. Overspeedingthe
engine above the factory highspeed
settingcan bedangerous.Ifyouthinkthe
engine-governedhigh speed needs
adjusting,contacta Sears or other
qualifiedservicecenter, whichhas prope=
equipmentand experienceto make any
necessaryadjustments.
