TO START ENGINE
When startingthe enginefor the first time
or if the enginehas runoutof fuel,itwill
take extracrankingtimeto movefuel from
the tanktotheengine.
• Siton seat inoperatingposition,
depressclutch/brakepedaland set
parkingbrake.
• Placegear shiftleverin neutral(N) posi-
tion.
• Moveattachmentclutchto =DISEN-
GAGED" position.
• Movethrottlecontrolto chokeposition.
Note: Beforestarting readthe warm and
coldstartingproceduresbelow.
• Insertkey intoignitionandtum key
clockwiseto =START"positionand
releasekey as soonas enginestarts.
Do notrun startercontinuouslyfor more
thanfifteen secondsper minute.Ifthe
enginedoesnotstartafterseveral
attempts,movethrottle controlto fast
position,wait a few minutesandtry
again.If enginestilldoesnotstart,
movethe throttlecontrol beck to the
chokepositionand retry.
WARM WEATHER STARTING(50° F
AND ABOVE)
• When enginestarts,move the throttle
controltothefast position.
• The attachmentsand grounddrivecan
nowbe used.If the enginedoesnot
acceptthe load, restartthe engineand
allowittowarmupfor one minuteusing
the chokeas describedabove.
COLD WEATHER STARTING( 50° F
AND BELOW)
• When enginestarts,allowengineto run
withthe throttlecontrolinthe choke
positionuntilthe enginerunsroughly,
then movethrottlecontrolto fast posi-
tion.Thismay requirean enginewarm-
upperiodfrom severalsecondstosev-
eralminutes,dependingonthe temper-
ature.
• The attachmentscan alsobe useddur-
ingthe enginewarm-upperiod.
NOTE: If at a highaltitude(above3000
feet) or incoldtemperatures(below32 F)
the carburetorfuel mixturemayneed to be
adjustedfor best engineperformance.
