125 hours of actual engine running time.
Intermediate: Engineis certified to beemission compliant
for 250 hours of actual engine runningtime.
Extended: Engineis certified to beemission compiiant for
500 hours of actual engine running time.
Forexample,a typical walk-behind lawn mower is used 20 to
25 hours per year. Therefore,the Emissions Durability
Period of an engine with an intermediate rating would
equateto 10to 12 years.
Certainengineswiii be certified to meetthe United States
EnvironmentalProtection Agency (USEPA)Phase2 emission
standards. Forphase2 certified engines, the Emissions
OompiiancePeriod referredto on the Emissions Compliance
label indicatesthe number of operating hours for which the
engine hasbeen shown to meet Federalemission
requirements.
