STORAGE
WARNING: Perform the following
steps after each use:
S Allow the engine to cool, and secure the
unit before storing or transporting.
S Store chain saw and fuel in a well venti-
latedareawherefuelvaporscannotreach
sparksoropenflamesfromwaterheaters,
electric motors orswitches, furnaces,etc.
S Store chain saw with all guards in place
and position chain saw so that any sharp
object cannot accidentally cause injury.
S Store chain saw well out of the reach of
children.
SEASONAL STORAGE
Prepareyourunitforstorageattheendofthe
season orif itwill notbe usedfor 30days or
more.
If your chainsaw is tobe stored for aperiod
of time:
S Clean saw thoroughly before storage.
S Store in aclean dry area.
S Lightly oil external metal surfaces and
guide bar.
S Oilthechainand wrapit inheavy paperor
cloth.
FUEL SYSTEM
Under FUELING ENGINE in the OPERA-
TION section of this manua l, see message
labeled IMPORTANT regarding the use of
gasohol in your chain saw.
Fuelstabilizer isanacceptablealternativein
minimizing theformation of fuelgum depos-
itsduringstorage.Addstabilizertothegaso-
line inthefueltank orfuel storagecontainer.
Followthe mixinstructions foundonstabiliz-
ercontainers.Runengine atleast 5minutes
after adding stabilizer.
Poulan/WEED EATER 40:1, 2-cycleengine
oil ( aircooled) isblendedwith fuelstabilizer.
If you do n ot use th is oil, you can a dd afuel
stabilizer to your fuel tank.
HELPFUL TIP
Duringstorageofyourgas/
oilmixture,theoilwillsepa-
rate from the gas.
We r ecommend that you
shake the gas can weekly
toinsureproperblendingof
the gas and oil.
ENGINE
S Remove spark plug and pour 1 teaspoon
of 40:1, 2-cycle engine oil (air cooled)
through the spark plug opening. Slowly
pullthestarterrope 8to10times todistrib-
ute oil.
S Replace spark plug with new one of rec-
ommended type and heatrange.
S Clean air filter.
S Check entire unit for loose screws, nuts,
andbolts. Replace anydamaged,broken,
or worn parts.
S At the beginning of the next season, use
only fresh fuel having the proper gasoline
to oil ra tio.
OTHER
S Do not store gasoline from one season to
another.
S Replace your gasoline can if it starts to
rust.
