startthesawandcarefullyreenterthecut. To
avoid kickback and chain damage, do not
useametalwedge. Donotattempttorestart
your sawwhen itis pinchedor hunginalog.
Use a wedge to remove p inched saw
Turn saw OFF and use a plastic or
wooden wedge to force cut open.
Overcutting begins on the top side of the log
with the bottom of the saw against the log.
When overcutting use light downward pres-
sure.

Undercuttinginvolvescuttingontheunder-
sideofthelogwithtopofsawagainstthelog.
When undercutting use light upward pres-
sure. Hold saw firmly and maintain control.
The saw will tend to push back toward you.
WARNING: Never turnsawupside
down to undercut. The saw cannot be con-
trolled in this position.
Always make your first cut onthe compres-
sionsideofthelog. Thecompressionsideof
the log is where the pressure of the log’s
weight is concentrated.

BUCKING WITHOUT A S UPPORT
S Overcut through 1/3of the diameterof the
log.
S Roll the log over and finish with a second
overcut.
S Watch for logswith acompression sideto
prevent the saw from pinching. S ee il-

S Remember your first cut is always on the
compression side of the log.

LIMBING AND PRUNING
WARNING: Be alert for and guard
against kickback. Do not allow the moving
chain tocontact any ot her branches or objects
at the nose of the guide bar when limbing or
pruning. Allowing such contact can result in
serious injury .

IMPORTANT POINTS
S Work slowly , keeping both hands firmly
gripped on t he saw . Maintain secure f ooting
and balance.
S Watch out for springpoles. Springpoles are
small size limbs which can catch the saw
chain a ndwhiptowardyouorpullyouoffbal-
ance. Use extreme caution when cutting
small size l imbs or slender material.
S Be alert for springback. Watch out for
branches thatare bentor und erpressure.
Avoid being struck by the branch or the
saw whenthetensioninthewoodfibers is
released.
S Keep a clear work area. Frequently clear
branches out of the way to avoid tripping
over them.
