OPERATOR SAFETY
S Dress properly. Always wear safety
glasse s or similar eye protection when op-
erating, orperforming maintenance o nyour
unit. (Safety glasses a re available.)Always
wear f aceor dustmaskifoperationisdusty.
Always wear heavy , long pants, long
sleeves,boots,andgloves.Donotgobare-
foot or wear sandals.
S Secure hair above shoulder length. Secure o r
remove loose clothing and jewelry or cl othing
with loosely hanging ties, straps, tassels, etc.
They ca n be caught in moving parts.
S Being fully covered also helps protect you
from debris and pieces of toxi c plants
thrown by spinning line.
S Stayalert.Donotoperate unitwhen youare
tired, ill,upset orunder influenceofalcohol,
drugs, or medication. W atch what you are
doing; use common sense.
S A void unintentional starting of the unit.
Keep hands and fingers away from thetrig-
ger switch while carrying the unit.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a danger ous envi-
ronmen t. To reduce th e ri sk of e lectrical shock,
do not use on wet grass. Do not u se in rain, in
damp or wet location s, or around sw imming
pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to snow,
rain, or water to avoid t he possibility of el ectri cal
shock.
S Only use the charger provided wi th your
unit when charging the battery. Use of any
other char ger could permanently damage
the battery, charger, and/or the unit.
S Use cha rger with st andard household elect ri-
cal outlets only (120 volt) . Do n ot abuse the
charger or charger cord. Never carr y the unit
by the charger co rd or yank cor d to discon-
nect from re ceptacle. Do not use the charger
if the charger or charger cord is damaged.
S Use the charger indoors only.
S Store and charge this unit in a dry location
and out of the reach of children.
S A void dangerous situations. D o notcharge
thebatter yor use theunit inan explosiveor
corrosive environment. Avoid areas where
flammable liquids or gases are present to
avoid cr eating a fire or explosion and/or
causing damage to unit.
S Donotoperateunit whileitis att achedtothe
charger.
S Do not atte mpt to repair unit, battery or char-
ger . Inspect insulation and connectors on the
unit and char ger before each use. If there is
any damage, do not use until da mage is re-
paired by your authorized service dealer .
S Donot insert anyobject intothe motorarea.
S Battery-powered un its do not have to be
plugged into an electr ical outlet to operate;
therefore, they are always in operating condi-
tion. Be awar e of possible hazards when you
are not using you r battery-powered unit.
S Do not d isposeof the battery in a fire. The cell
may exp lode. Check with localcode for p rop-
er disposal. Do not open or mutilate the bat-
tery . Released electrolyte is corrosive a nd
may cause damageto t heeyes orskin. I t m ay
be toxic if swallowed.
S When handling batteri es, take care not to
short the battery with conducting materials
such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The bat-
tery or conduct or may overheat and cause
burns.
S Do not use the unit if the trigger switch does
not turn theunit onand offproper ly. R epairs to
the switch must be made by yo ur authorized
service dealer .
S Never immerse any part of the unit or char-
ger into any liquid.
S Inspect charger co rd periodically and if
damaged, have it repaired or replaced by
an authorized service dealer.
S Disconnect charger from receptacle when
not in use to reduce the risk of electric
shock or serious personal injury.
UNIT SAFETY
S Inspect unit before use. Replace damaged
parts. M ake sur e all handles, guards, and
fasteners are in place and securely fas-
tened. Parts that are damaged must be re-
paired orreplaced byan aut horizedse rvice
dealer These include head parts that are
cracked, or chipped, guards, and anyother
part that is damaged.
S Do not repair unit yourself .
S Use only 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) diameter
recommendedtrimmer line(seeUSER RE-
PLACEABLE SERVICE PARTS in the
SERVICE AND ADJUSTM ENTS section).
Never use wire, rope, string, etc.
S Use specif ied trimmer spool. Make sure
spool is proper ly inst alled and all parts are
secu rely fastened.
S Use onlyWEEDEA TERreplacementparts
and accessories as recommended.
CUTTING SAFETY
WARNING: Inspect area to be cut.
Remove objects (rocks, broken glass, nails,
wire, string, etc.) which can be thrown or be-
come entangled in cutting head.
S Donot overreachorstandon unstablesup-
port. Keep firm footing and balance.
S Keep the cutting head below wa ist level. Do
not raise handles above your waist. Cutting
head can co me dangerousl y close to your
body.
S Keep away fromcutting head and s pinning
line.
S Use unit properly. Use only for trimming,
scalping,and mowing. Donot force unit. It
will do the jobbetter and w ithless risk of in-
jury at the rate for which it was designed.
S Use onlyin daylightor ingoodartificial light.
MAINTENANCE SAFETY
