EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WA RRA NTY RIGHTS AND O B-
LIGATIONS: The U. S. Environmental
Protection Agency/Environment Cana-
da and Sears Canada, Inc., are
pleased to explain the emissions the
emissions control system w arr anty on
your year 2002--2004 small off--road en-
gine. Sears C anada m ust w arr ant the
emission control system on your small
of f--road engine f or the periods of t ime
listed below pr ovided there h as been no
abuse, neglect, o r improper mainte-
nance of y our small off--road engine.
Your emission control system includes
parts such as t he carburet or and the
ignition system. W here a warr antable
condition exits, Sear s Canada will repair
your small of f--road engine at no cost t o
you. E xpenses covered under war rant y
include diagnosis, parts and labor.
MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY
COVERAGE: I f any emissions related
part on your engine (as listed under
Emissions Contr ol W arr anty Parts List) is
defective or a defect in t he mat erials or
workmanship of t he engine causes the
failure of such an emission r elated part ,
the p art will be repaired or replaced by
Sears C anada. O W NE R’S WARRAN-
TY RESPONSIBILITIES: As the small
of f--road engine owner, you ar e r espon-
sible f or t he per for mance of the required
maintenance listed in your instruction
manual. Sears C anada r ecommends
that you retain all receipts covering
maintenance on your small off--road en-
gine, but S ears Canada cannot deny
warr anty solely for t he lack of r eceipts or
for your failure to ensur e the perfor-
mance of all scheduled maintenance.
As t he small of f--road engine o wner, you
should be aware t hat Sears Canada
may deny you warranty coverage if your
small of f--road engine or a part of it has
failed due to abuse, neglect, impr oper
maintenance, unapproved modifications,
or t he use of parts not made or ap-
proved by t he original equipment
manufacturer. You ar e r esponsible for
presenting your sm all of f--road engine to
a Sear s Canada authorized repair
centre as soon as a pr oblem exists.
W arr anty r epairs should be com pleted in
a r easonable amount of time, not to ex-
ceed 30 days. If you have any ques-
tions regarding your warranty r ights and
respo n sibilities, you should con ta c t you r
nearest aut horized service centre or call
Sears Canada at 1-800-469-4663.
WARRANTY COMMENCEMENT
DATE: The warrant y period begins on
the date the small off--road engine is
purchased. LEN GTH OF CO VERA GE:
This warr anty shall be for a period of two
years fr om the initial date of pur chase.
WH AT I S COVER ED: REPAIR OR RE-
PLACEMENT OF PARTS. Repair or r e-
placement of any warr anted part will be
perfor med at no charge t o t he owner at
an approved Sear s C anada servicing
centre. If you have a ny questions re-
garding your war rant y r ights and r espon-
sibilit ies, you should con ta c t your near-
est author ized service centre or call
Sears Canada at 1-800-469-4663.
W ARRANTY PERIOD: Any war rant ed
part which is not scheduled for replace-
ment as required maintenance, or which
is scheduled only for regular inspection
to t he e f fect of “r epair or replace as nec-
essary” shall be warr anted for 2 year s.
Any warr anted par t which is scheduled
for replacement as r equired m ainte-
nance shall be warrant ed for the per iod
of t ime up to the f irst scheduled replace-
ment point for that par t. DIAGNOSIS:
The owner shall not be char ged f or
diagnostic labor which leads to t he d e-
term ination that a warranted par t is de-
fective if t he diagnostic work is per-
form ed at an approved Sears C anada
servicing centre. CONSEQ UE NTI AL
DAMAGES: Sear s C anada may be li-
able for dam ages t o ot her engine com-
ponents caused by t he f ailure of a war-
ranted part still under warr anty. WHAT IS
NOT COVERED: All failures caused by
abuse, neglect, or improper mainte-
nance are not covered. ADD--ON OR
MODIFIED PARTS: The use of add--on
or m odified parts can be gr ounds f or dis-
allow ing a w arran ty claim. Se ars Can a-
da is not liable to cover failures of war-
ranted parts c aused by the use of
add--on or modified parts. HOW TO
FILE A CLAIM : If you have any ques-
tions regarding your warrant y r ights and
