SWEEPING -- Thefanning action ofthe rotat-
ing line ca n be used for a quick and easy
clean up. Keep the line parallel to and above
the surfaces being swept and move the tool
from side to side.

CHECK FOR DAMAGED OR
WORN PARTS
Contact a n authorized ser vice dealer for re-
placement o f damaged or worn parts.
S STOP Switch -- Ensure STOP switch
functions proper ly by pushing and holding
the switch in the ST OP pos ition. Makesure
engine stops. Restart engine andcontinue.
S Fuel Tank -- Di scontinue use o f unit if fuel
tank shows signs of damage or leaks.
S Debris Shield -- Discontinue use of unit if
debris shield is damaged.
INSPECT AND CLEANUNIT ANDDE-
CALS
S After each use, inspect complete unit for
loose o rdamaged parts. Clean theunit and
decals using adampcloth witha milddeter-
gent.
S Wipe off unit w ith a clean dry cloth.
CLEAN AIR FILTER
A dirty air filter decreases engine perform-
ance and increases fuel consumption a nd
harmful emissions. Always clean after eve ry
5 hours of oper ation.
1. Clean the air filter cover and the area
around it to keep dirt from falling int o the
carburetor chamber when the cover is
opened.
2. Open air filter cover by pushing button
(see illustration). Remove air filter.
NOTE: To avoid creating a fire hazard or
producingharmful evaporativeemissions, do
not clean filter in gasoline or other f lam mable
solvent.
3. Wash the filter in soap and water.
4. Allow filter to dry.
5. Replace air filter and close cover .

MUFFLER AND SPARK ARREST-
ING SCREEN
WARNING: The muf fler on this prod-
uct contai ns chemica ls known to the State of
Califo rnia to cause cancer.
As your unit is used, carbondeposits build up
on the muffler and spark arresting screen.
For normal hom eowner use, h owever , the
muffler andspar k a rresting screenwillnot re-
quire any service. A fter 5 0 hours of use, we
recommend t hat your muffler be serviced or
replaced by your authorize d servi ce dealer.
REPLACE SPARK PLUG
Replace the spark plug each year to ensure
the engine starts easier and runs better. Set
spark plug gap at 0.025 inch (0.6 mm). Igni-
tion timing is fixed and nonadjustable.
NOTE: This spark ignition syst em complies
with the Canadian standard ICE S--00 2.
1. Twist, then pull off spark plug boot.
2. Remove spark plug f rom cylinder and
discard.
3. Replace with Champion RCJ-6Y spark
plug and tighten secu rely w ith a 3/4 inch
(19 mm) socket wrench.
4. Reinstall t he spark plug boot.
