FUELING ENGINE
WARNING: Remove f uel cap slowly
when refueling.
HELPFUL TIP
To obtain thecorrect oilmix
ratio, pour 3.2 ounces of
2--cycle synthetic oil into
one gallon of fresh gas.
This engine is ce rtified to operate on unleaded
gasoli ne. Before ope ration, g asoline must b e
mixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle
air-cooled eng ine oil designed to be m ixed at a
ratio of 40: 1. Poulan/WE ED EATER brand
synthetic oil is recommended. Mix gasoline and
oil at a rati o of 40:1. A 40:1 ratio is obtained by
mixing 3.2fluid ounces (95ml) of o ilwith 1gallon
(4 liters) of unleaded gasoline. DO NOT USE
automotive oil or marine oil. These oils will
cause eng ine damage. W hen mixing fuel, follow
instr uct ions printe d on container . Once oil is
added t o gasoline, shake container momentarily
to assure th at the f uel is thoroughly mixed.
Always re ad and follow t he safe ty rules relati ng
to f uel before fu eling yo ur unit.
CAUTION: Ne ver use stra ight gasoline i n
your unit. T his will cause permanent engine
damage and void the limit ed warranty.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
This engine requires the u se of minimum 8 7
octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline.
IMPORTANT
Use of alcohol blended fuels (called gasoho l or
usingethanol or methanol) can causemajor en-
gine performance and durability proble ms.
WARNING: Alte rnativefuels (not gas-
oline) such as E--15 (15% alcohol), E--20 (20%
alcohol ), E--85 ( 85%alcohol)areNOTclassified
as gasoline and are NOT approve d for use in
2--stroke gasolin e engines. Use of alternative
fuels will cause problems such as: improper
clutch engage ments, overheating, vapor lock,
power loss, lubrication deficien cy, deteriora tion
of fuel lines, gaske ts and internal carburet or
component s, etc. Alternative fuels cause hig h
moistu re absorpt ion into the fuel/oil mixture
leading to oil and fuel separation.
