SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
REPLACING THE LINE
For unit to operate properly , the cutting line
should be replaced when line becomes worn
toless than3inches inlengthfr omthe e dgeof
each side of the cutting head.
WARNING: Use only 0.095 inch (2,4
mm) diamete r Poulan brand cut length line.
Never use wire, rope, st ring, etc. , which can
break off and become a danger ous missile.
1. Remove and discard worn line before
installing new line.
2. Cl ean entire surface of cu tting head.
3. Insertends oflineintothetwoguideholes
on front of cutting head.

4. Continue to feed line through the guide
holes until the line is fully extended
through t he side exit holes.

5. Pullendsoflineuntillineis tight.Correctly
installed line will be the same length on
both ends.
REPLACING THE CUTTING HEAD
1. Align hole in the dust cup with the hole in
the side of the gearbox by rotating the
dust cup.
2. In se rt a small screwdri ve r into ali g n e d
holes. This will ke ep the shaft from turn ing
while removin g a nd installing tr immer head.

3. Whileholding the s crewdriver inposition,
remove trimmer head by turning clock-
wise (looking from bottom of unit).
4. Thread replacement trimmer head onto
the shaft by turning counter clockwise.
Tighten until secure.
5. Remove the screwdriver.
CARBURETOR IDLE SPEED
ADJUSTMENT
WARNING: Keep others away when
making idle speed adjustments. The t rimmer
head will be spinning during this proce dure.
Wear your protective eq uipment andobserve
all sa fety pr ecautions.
The carburetor has been carefully set at the
factory.Adjustments may benecessary ifyou
notice any of the following conditions:
S Engine will not idle when the throttl e is
released.
Make adjustments with the unit support edso
the cutting attachment is off the ground and
will not make contact with any object. Hold
the unitby handwhilerunningand makingad-
justments. Keep all parts of your body away
from the cutting attachment and muffler.
To adjust idle speed:
Allow engineto idle.Adjust speeduntilengine
runs without stalling (idle speed too slow).
S T urn idle speed screw clockwi se to increase
engine speed if engine stalls or dies.
S Turn idle speed scr ew counterclockwiseto
decrease engine speed.
