It is normal for the fuel filter to rattle in the
empty fuel tank.
Finding fuel oroil residue on muf fler isnormal
due t o carburetor adjustments and t esting
done by the manufacturer.
ADJUSTING THE HANDLE
WARNING: When a djust ing the assist
handle, besure itre mains above thesafety l abel
and below the m ark or arrow on the shaft.
1. Loosen wing nut on handle.
2. Ro tate the handle o n t he sh aft to an u pright
positi on; retighten wing nut.
ATTACHING SHIELD
WARNING: The shield must be prop-
erly installed. Th e shi eld p rovides parti al p rotec-
tion to th e operator and others from the risk of
thrown o bject s, and is equipped with a line l imit-
er blade which cuts excess line to the proper
length. The line limiter blade (on underside of
shield) is sharp a nd can cut you.

1. Remove wing nut from shield.
2. Insert br acket into slot as shown.
3. Pivotshielduntilboltpasses t h roughhole
in bracket.
4. Secur ely tighten wing nut onto bolt.
