HELP FUL TIP
If your engine switch reads
“push to stop” , it is always
in the ON position.
HOW TO STOP YOUR UNIT
S To stop the engine, push and hold the ST OP
swit ch in the STOP position u ntil the engine
stops.
S If engine does not stop, move choke lever
to FULL CHOKE position.
HOW TO START YOUR UNIT
WARNING: The trimmer head will
turn whilestarting t heengine. Avoid any con-
tact with the m uffler. A hot muf fler can cause
serious burns.

STARTING A COLD ENGINE ( or a
warm engine af t er runn i ng out of
fuel )
Starting Position
1. Setunitonaflatsurface.
2. Sl owly press the pr imer bulb 6 tim es.
3. Move choke l ever to t he FULL CHOKE
positi on.
4. Sq ueeze the thro ttle tr igger fully and hold
through all remaining steps.

5. Pull st arter rope handle shar ply unt il engine
sounds as if it is trying to start, bu t do not
pull rope m ore than 6 t imes.
6. As soonas engine sounds as if itis tryi ng t o
start , move choke lever to HALF CHOKE
position.
7. Pull st arter rope sharpl y unt il engine r uns,
but no m ore than 6 pulls.
NOTE: I f the engine doesn’t start after 6
pulls (at the HALF CHOKE position),
move the choke lever to the FULL
CHOKE position and press the primer
bulb 6 times. Squeeze and hold the
throttle t rigger and pull the st arter rope 2
more times. Move the choke lever to the
HALF CHOK E position andpull t h estart -
er rope until theengine runs, but nomore
than 6 pulls. I f the engine still doesn’t
start, it is probably flooded. Proceed to
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE.
8. Oncethe e nginestarts, allowitto run 10se-
con d s, the n move the choke le ver to the
RUN position. Allow the unit to run for 30
more se conds a t RUN bef ore releasing t he
throttl e t rigger.
NOTE: If engine dies with the choke le-
ver inthe R UN position, move the choke
lever to the HALF CH OKE position and
pull the rope until engine runs, but no
more than 6 pulls.
STARTING A WARM ENGINE
1. M ove the choke lever to the HALF
CHOKE position.
2. Squeeze and hold the throttle trigger .
Keep throttle trigger fully squeezed unt il
the engine runs sm oothly.
3. Pull st arter rope sharpl y unt il engine r uns,
but no m ore than 6 pulls.
4. Allow engine to run 15 seconds, then
move the choke lever to the RUN posi-
tion.
NOTE: If engine has not star ted, pull starter
rope 5 more pu lls. If enginestill does notrun,
it is probably flooded.
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
Flooded engines can be started by placing
the chokeleverin theRUN position; then,pull
the rope to clear the engine of exce ss fuel.
This could require pulling the starter handle
many times depending on how badly t he unit
is flooded. If theunit still doesn’tstart, refer to
TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE or call
1-800-554--6723.
OPE RATING INSTRUCTIONS
It i s recommended t hat the engine not be
operated for longer than 1 minute at full
throttle.
