Low oil Shutdown System
The Low oil Shutdown system is designed to prevent engine damage caused by an insufficient amount of oil in the
rankcase.Before the oil level in the crankcase can fall below a safe limit, the Low oil Shutdown system will automati-
cally shut down the engine (the engine switch will remain in the ON position). If the Low oil Shutdown system shuts
down the engine, add engine oil.
High altitude operation
At high altitude, the standard carburetor air-fuel mixture will be excessively rich.Performance will decrease, and fuel
consumption will increase.
High altitude performance can be improved by installing a smaller diameter main fuel jet in the carburetor and read-
justing the pilot screw.If you always operate the water pump at altitudes higher than 6,000 feet above sea level, have
your authorized Talon Water Pump dealer perform these carburetor modifications.
Even with suitable carburetor jetting, engine horsepower will decrease approximately 3.5% for each 1,000 foot
increase in altitude.The affect of altitude on horsepower will be greater than this if no carburetor modification is made.
CAUTION
Operation of the Water Pump at an altitude lower that the carburetor is jetted for may result in reduced performance,
overheating, and serious engine damage caused by an excessively lean air/fuel mixture.

Sistema de alerta del aceite

Manejo a grandes altitudes
A grandes altitudes, la mezcla estándar de aire y combustible del carburador es demasiado rica. El rendimiento baja
y aumenta el consumo de combustible.
El rendimiento a grandes alturas puede mejorarse instalando un inyector de combustible de menor diámetro en el car-
burador y reajustando el tornillo del piloto. Si siempre opera la bomba de agua a altitudes mayores a 6.000 pies por
encima del nivel del mar, pida a su distribuidor de bombas de agua autorizado por McCulooch que realice estas mod-
ificaciones en el carburador. Incluso con una inyección de combustible adecuada, el caballaje disminuirá aproxi-
madamente un 3,5% por cada aumento de 1.000 pies de altitud. El efecto de la altitud en el caballaje será mayor si
no se realizan modificaciones en el carburador.
PRECAUCION
El manejo de la bomba de agua en altitudes menores que aquellas a las que se ha adaptado el carburador puede
ocasionar disminución del rendimiento, sobrecalentamiento y serios daños al motor causados por una mezcla de aire
y combustible excesivamente pobre.

CAUTION
• Engine oil is a major factor affecting engine perform-
ance and service life. Non-detergent and 2- stroke
engine oil are not recommended.
• Be sure to check the engine on a level surface with
the engine stopped.
Use Mcculloch 4-stroke oil, or an equivalent high deter-
gent,premium quality motor oil certified to meet or exceed
U.S. automobile manufacturer's requirements for Service
Classification SE or SF, (motor oil classification SE or SF
will show this designation on the container.)
SAE 10W-30 is recommended for general, all-temper-
ature use.
1. Remove the oil filler cap (A) /dipstick and wipe it clean
(Fig. 5-1A).
2. Check the oil level by inserting the dipstick in the filler
neck without screwing it in.
3. If the level is low, fill to the top of oil filler neck with the
recommended oil.
NOTE
The low oil shutdown will automatically stop the engine
before the oil level
falls below the safe limit. However, to avoid the inconven-
ience of an unexpected
shutdown, it is advisable to visually inspect the oil level regularly.

PRECAUCION

dan aceites de motor no detergentes ni aceites para moto de dos tiempos.
• Asegúrese de comprobar que el motor está al nivel de la superficie cuando está apagado.
Use aceite McCulooch para motores de cuatro tiempos, o un aceite de motor de gran calidad altamente detergente
equivalente que esté certificado por cumplir o superar los requerimientos de los fabricantes de automóviles de los EE
UU para clasificación de servicio SE o SF (Las clasificaciones de aceites para motor SE o SF aparecerán en el
envase.)
Se recomienda SAE 10W-30 para un uso general a cualquier temperatura.SAE 10W-30 is recommended for

1. Retire el tapón del aceite (A) / varilla de medición y límpielos.
2. Revise el nivel de aceite insertando la varilla de medición en el cuello del depósito sin enroscarla.
3. Si el nivel es bajo, llenar hasta el máximo del cuello del depósito del aceite con un aceite recomendado.
NOTA
El sistema de alerta del aceite detiene automáticamente el motor cuando el nivel de aceite cae por debajo del límite
de seguridad.Sin embargo, para ahorrarse la inconveniencia de un apagado inesperado, es aconsejable examinar a
simple vista el nivel de aceite con frecuencia.
